If it really was that simple then Florida would never get hit. So I'm guessing its not that simple. But what would I know - the damn thing has been headed straight west for 2 days now so its probably due to make a sharp right turn anytime. The forecast was for it to reduce in strength before it hit the Bahamas - instead it increased and missed the Bahamas. Clearly wiser heads than mine have this all figured out. /sarc-off

Florida Puerto Ricans say Trump response to Hurricane Dorian won’t ease Maria memories

"But even as Trump aggressively courts Florida’s Venezuelan and Cuban voters, he has continued to blast Puerto Rican leaders. Just this week, as Dorian approached Puerto Rico as a tropical storm, Trump repeated a wildly inaccurate claim that he’d provided $92 billion in storm assistance to Puerto Rico (about half that amount has been allocated). And then he suggested that Puerto Ricans had been ungrateful for FEMA’s help in 2017, and took a shot at “the incompetent Mayor of San Juan.”

Lets hope Trump has pissed of enough Mexicans, Puerto Ricans and just about every other minority group to lose Florida and the US in 2020. He is well on the way! LOL
Why dont you move there and vote

Snopes says it is a fabrication and there is no evidence that Cortez tweeted this or deleted a tweet such as this.

            https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/ocasio-cortez-cars-hurricanes/

Do you guys believe everything that is on the internet and in the tabloids? LOL

If you didn't know this already, a lot of what is being shared on right wing sites you may frequent, twitter accounts and other social media sources cannot be relied upon.

Check the source before you embarrass yourself even further!

What makes Snopes a reliable resource?

              FAQs
              Snopes 101

              Answer

Snopes has been independently verified by the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN), which lists its core principles as: “non-partisanship and fairness, transparency of sources, transparency of funding and organization, transparency of methodology, and open and honest corrections policy.”

Of course, we don’t expect anyone to accept us as the ultimate authority on any topic. No single source, no matter how reliable, is infallible. Anyone can make mistakes. Or get duped. Or have a bad day at the fact-checking bureau.

However, unlike so many anonymous individuals who create and spread unsigned, unsourced messages across the internet, we show our work on Snopes.com. Research materials used in the preparation of any fact check are listed so that readers who wish to verify the validity of our information may check those sources for themselves. Just click the “Sources” button at the bottom of an article.

Feeling skeptical? That’s probably a good sign. Keep looking for more information. We will, too.

                Thanks for verifying that Chuck.

It is odd that someone felt a need to fabricate something embarrassing and uninformed from AOC, considering that she has been an absolute wealth of such statements without needing to make them up.

I even looked through her twitter feed for a couple days back. I though nobody, not even a crazy bartender turned rabid socialist congresscritter could be that ****ing stupid. Didn't think it could be real.

As of this morning, the storm is predicted to make landfall and move north along the coast. West Orlando is the most West it goes. Our home is West of Orlando by Lake Alfred. The Cameras have a bit of wind showing now but nothing major yet. Its 9 am.
