Are you implying that the people at Health Canada are corrupt and passed regulations saying the product is safe for human consumption is a lie? That they are working for foreign multinationals? Do you trust your govt to ensure the safety of its citizens?

Do we need less or more or different govt regulation to fix this issue?

Remove the fruit and vegetable grows ability to protect their crop and see what happens to their bottom line when they take it on the chin because the crop is blemishesd from disease or infested with bugs. So a grain farmer isn't supposed to be allowed to use the approved tools at his disposal to help him farm and be profitable but the other grower can?

        Why the double standard?

My wheat is at greater risk of downgrading by bleaching and sprouting by laying in a soaked swath, which it now is, than standing and waiting to be harvested after a properly timed application of a preharvest app of a registered product to help aid in harvest....whether for green weed control or dry down....depending on which product we're talking about.

I think we are so screwed!

I don't need glasses for 20-20 hindsight, but swathing was not a good mangement decision this year, especially if there is a viable option.

            Coulda, woulda, shoulda.......

There seems to be a weather "pattern" established, and it isn't "hot and dry"!

A few yrs ago I visited the Okanagan. Guys at the cherry farm said it was a weird yr, too much rain, too cool, then too hot. Because of the uncertainty in the season, he skipped spraying his crop. Maybe he was in tough shape or something. His entire orchard turned into worms. They ate everything. They came out of the fruit, ate the fruit and then moved on to the leaves.

The public needs to see something like that before the dismiss chemicals.

Its not just a few pots on apples like the song says. Mother nature will decimate a food supply without human intervention.

Horse, it is registered for preharvest application after the grain is lower than 30% moisture.

So no people aren't using it for a dessicant as it does not speed crop maturity at that low of grain moisture.

But it does kill the green weeds and second growth that prevent you from safely harvesting and binning your grain.

Not being a dick here, but if any of that 2nd growth has a viable kernel in it, and you intend for it to go in the grain tank, then a person would be applying "off label".

If it doesn't, and you're just looking to ease its passage from the front of the combine to the back, then party on.

A farmer who knows what direction to swath - not perfectly straight the way it was seeded.
