Alternate way to raise political awareness?

There is a campaign going on in the US just now where cattle producers are tweeting Trump every day with the hashtag #FairCattleMarkets in relation to the collusion and price fixing that is going on between the packers. If politicians receive thousands of tweets a day outlining the issues under a common hashtag it's certainly going to raise their awareness of issues. Do you think it's a worthwhile avenue to pursue?

It doesn't involve alot of effort, but multiplied over thousands of people it is more likely to have an impact than one lone voice in the wilderness.
