You're exactly right, it's never been about global warming or the environment or climate change, but it's always been about socialism, western guilt, wealth redistribution, crypto communism and neo Marxism.

And it was progressing relatively unimpeded, until the wrong candidate won the US election, and threw a wrench into the works. Which explains a large amount of the Trump Derangement Syndrome.

The U.N. will completely ignore that .
They have set in motion this whole hysteria and topped it off by trying to guilt everyone by using Greta as a human shield now to enforce their 2030 agenda. The wheels are set in motion for their plan of wealth distribution for the 99% , leaving the majority of the wealth in the hands of the top elites of the world to maintain control .
The middle class will be non existent if this plan carries through. Private ownership of land is next once they drain wealth just like 15444 has pointed out in another thread through ever increasing carbon tax’s that will have zero effect on climate ever but simply strip money from wealth creating industries such as agriculture.
All on the back of this climate emergency that is based on fundamentally flawed science by deliberately not including climate forcing by the sun.
Most people have no clue what this is all about but it’s been laid out in the U.N. agenda for years.
They even have openly admitted it .

It never could be called a conspiracy - the U.N. documents state openly and unambiguously that wealth redistribution is indeed their goal.

U.N. Habitat 1, Vancouver, 1976, states that:

Any and every development that is undertaken is done so with the expectation of profit, so thus must be subject to development or permitting fees, and then the profits be taxed to be redistributed to "the community".

Also, that private property ownership can lead to an increase in value, so that when that property is sold, there could be an "unearned profit", which must then be taxed and the proceeds redistributed to "the community".

Then, if you are not thoroughly ill, look up the U.N. "Agenda 21" and it's successor "203o: Agenda for Sustainable Development".

These documents openly outline the U.N. plan to reshape society into a mindless, obedient and dependent mob of useful idiot/slaves.

So the climate hoax is the ideal vehicle by which all the world's sheeple can be corralled into a state of mind which will make them easy to shear of their wealth.

The Justin Trudeaus, Clintons, Aga Khans, etc, will become even wealthier and more corrupt, while the chuckters and like-minded fools carry their water, satisfied with a smile, acrumb and a kick in the ass from their elite slave-masters.

We are talking about credentials as scientists. I looked some of them up and they do have advanced degrees in technical fields so they qualify just as much as the 97% alarmists do. Their views on unrelated subjects are irrelevant. Scientists are above reproach so we must believe them, Greta said. So there it is. An opposing view point from the industry peers.
