    Blending grain

Got some Harvest Sample Program results back.
Wheat harvested before all that rain has a falling number greater than 360 seconds. Will someone blend my sprouted wheat if the falling number is reasonable with the good stuff I have? Or is it the same when they said they CAN'T/WON'T blend high and low protein malt barley.

I can't wait to see what the falling number is on my " weathered" wheat.
It may not look pretty but it still might make good bread!

Feed wheat will eventually make bread....and might be worth more than some other years better grain...

Why there isn't a falling number machine at every terminal is odd considering they be able to find better wheat that may not be pretty....that is the international standard, isn't it?????

Our wheat stood a month last year in showers and snow flurries, was still a #2. If COLD better than wet and warm, ooops sound like Greta!

Right ,,,,until they get caught...P&H had to stop durum deliveries and start doing falling number tests before you could deliver....put it back on the primary producer for inconvenience....

Isn't there an enzyme that can be added in the bread making process to make poor quality wheat flour perform satisfactorily?

Yup the game played for over 40 years.
It’s funny , last year visuals did nit really matter it was all falling number . This year it’s all visual ffs lol . The one elevator here last year would not buy a kernel after the snow hit without a falling number done . This year you don’t hear a peep.
General rule of thumb , the higher the sprout count the lower the falling number.
It was too cold last year to sprout much after the wet weather. It was -5 or less almost every night after the weather went side ways , prevented a lot of sprouting. Not the case this year.

If every farmer in the West refused to pay the seed tax and instead put the same amount of money aside for the construction of farmer-owned pool elevators, we could regain a lot of our marketing power within a decade or two. Who needs more profits, seed cos and grain cos, or farmers?

Farmer owned inland terminals were built.....alot with major GrainCo "affiliation". How many are left?
What about port shipping? Who owns those facilities? Rhetorical question.
So we need to re-invent the wheel for the third time. Farmer owned facilities 3.0
