Do you think anyone in any government will acknowledge the issue we are facing????

    Where is Ralphie?????
There’s a couple counties by Edmonton that have declared states of emergency because of the weather not allowing harvest, so yes, some in the government are acknowledging it.

Will someone in the higher levels acknowledge it? Who knows.

If they do, will any of their ideas be effective? Again, who knows.

Government acknowledgement and assistance would be nice but it’s hardly something our industry has come to rely on. What’ll appear first, decent harvest weather or government acknowledgement?

Yes , last year there was a lot . Hopefully you don’t have many rocks . The ground will have to firm up somehow or you will have to wait until the ground freezes if possible.
As much as it sucks you should go get a new spare feeder chain for the combine if you plan on still straight cutting . Unless you land rolled every acre at seeding .
Our wheat is half way flat already , if it goes down the lifters will go on the swather . I will not even try to straight cut flat wheat after last year . We gained 50% more time in the combine swathing ahead . The damage you will do to your headers and combines will not be worth it trying to straight cut flat cereals . Canola you may have no choice because of shatter losses .

Unity area ,looks like 3- 4 inches on a roof where has not melted as much .
Will not have to go far to see what is happening with
          Standing canola and wheat.

            Ground just white here.
            Looking like '16 again.
Hoping we finish in November and done with drying by Christmas.

Only this time, 75% is laying out.
Canola dry in May I guess.

I actually miss the days when we didn't have long range forecasts at our fingertips.
            More hope, less anger.

This wheat will not take much more , most likely be flat in 3-4 hrs if it continues to snow ..

The other field has more snow and is a lot lower to ground , not flat yet but will be shortly if snow don’t stop very soon .

3 inches on ground and snowing now in west central. Standing fairly ripe wheat still standing, green wheat is on the ground. Almost all canola in area is swathed.

Talking to the govt is a waste of time. It will just get you a lecture on climate change, the public will tell you to seed something else or learn to code.

Let's see the media put a positive on this mess.
Enough was harvested to keep minions employed.
What's left would be surplus anyway.
Farmers have harvested in the spring before.
They will never quit anyway.just throw them a few more pennies per bushel..they will have to sell.
                    List goes on..

So if all your canola stays in the field this winter do you think guys that didn’t take 10 dollars a couple weeks ago will still be ****ed in the head?

There are lots of lentils still out here, enjoying the cool snow since it’s been so hot all year. 🥵
Our ancestors call these holidays green holidays but now we can rename them, “white holidays”.

The biggest concern out there is that last year when this area got smoked with heavy snow , feed wheat prices still held up ok . Could still make a few dollars at the end of the day to pay for all the parts and repairs to get it . This year it’s down $1.5 / bus ..... that takes away any hope of a return . That’s by far the biggest problem. Then facing increased inputs for next year .... add that up and there will be a lot of red ink ..... but on the farm level only . The rest of the Ag industry will continue in like nothing ever happened
