Well, its Thursday and the week went the same as all the harvest weeks so far. First rain or snow then by Saturday we go and take tough crop as if it flows it goes. Then by Sunday night, it's close to dry and finally, Monday morning its dry and we go hard till 2 PM when it rained and not just a spit anywhere from 1/4 to 1/2 inch, and we sit.
But the real problem we farmers have is idiots who are brokers or traders.
Read the following.
Canola Values Stay Rangebound
that’s mainly due to pressure from harvest activity, which has carried on at an impressive pace on the Canadian Prairies despite being mired with severe weather conditions.
“I’ve talked to several clients in northwestern and central Saskatchewan that are actually wrapping up the harvest, or at least made good progress.
We can't win when shit like that goes on.
Then add in the useless crap reports that show harvest jumps each week even if it snowed like, Manitoba got.
So here is my report.
Harvest stalled again, and we should get to 46% tonight.
It is the ****ing middle of October, and the sand is running out of the hourglass.
Barley is wrapped up with abandoned acres left, and this wil be baled or burnt next spring. To wet to do that now. Not much malt mostly feed and some ugly feed.
Peas only fields left are being rolled up because the geese wont even eat.
Lentils still a few and they are ****Ed.
Oats were being swath and picked up in the next few days as a window is opening up.
Flax is being harvested, but those wishing to take it straight cut are having dry down issues.
HRS is being left, and guys will get at it after Canola. We are taking three flat fields that I swath yesterday because they were flat on the ground and combine drivers going two mph vs 4.5 just doesn't work any more. Yes, I have guys on swather.
Canola is yielding not bad in our area but will we get it all off before the snow. I am guessing I might not get the last 1000 acres. To the genius broker, most harvested isn't that dry and ask what yields are like I bet down from the previous year. Millions of acres in the field and bushels harvested that is tough, you tell me the outcome. It's comfortable from a ****ING office.
Those wanting the seed tax here is a prime example. I have three of the new Liberty seed varieties grown on our farm that just came out in 2019. I paid real good money for them. Each is a 1000 acres or more. One stands out as a Dud can you guess what will be left out all winter. Yep, it's that one. So we pay and pay some more yet have shit delivered.
That's what you will get with cereals under the same shit show.
A window is being opened just a hair So be safe and remember the ones at home are way more important than a ****ing crop that the market is already trying to figure out how to **** you out of any profit.
Seed guy showed up can you guess how that went over.
