Several in NW sask are getting finished. We finished last Sat only because we dried 3/4 of the crop. Paid thousands in CO2 tax -which is basically theft by our fed govt to rebate to city and wage people. It’s insane. And what is the alternative? Wait it out as some have done and might get it dry as pretty good stretch of weather right now. Others binned or bagged tough hoping it holds til the terminals can take it with huge drying charges applied.
If the libs get in again, their plans to escalate the CO2 tax will kill our economy.
Never since Trudeau senior has the west been more mistreated. It has to change.

Back to crop report. Best wheat here is a 2 and down from there. Anything swathed is feed. Yields about average
Canola good quality again about ave yields spotty hail dropped some fields. Standing canola has been very slow to get ready. Spraying did nothing. Swathed canola in the bin 2 or 3 weeks ago and standing just going now still not dry and 600 hp combines going 2 mph. Some years it works great-this was not one of those. Peas and lentils off before shit weather-good yield and excellent quality.

No profit on really any crop as prices sit now. There has to be an adjustment coming. No one needs a calculator to figure that out.

Frustrating but we still have time. Rosalie from CBC radio calls when things turn rough in our area and she asked when does it get really stressful, I said November 7 th. Hopefully it holds out till then at about 60% done.
I’m east of Lloyd and today was supposed to be 14 and sunny. Cloudy and drizzle instead. I’m just about done but most guys need at least a week if not 2. Brutal. Standing wheat starting to sprout. Heck I swear the standing oats I’m waiting on are too.

        I agree on the adjustment.

Also the straight cut canola some years it works some not. It’s a tool that I won’t give up.

Finished the last of the soybeans today before dark
A few potholes to do tomorrow.
Never had to dry a bushel. Got rid of any canola over 10. Anything left in bins is dry and cold .
Got some wheat at 17 , most 16 or less .
Was not fun but it’s off. Average yields at best in this small area, much higher west and north west.
North and east of here is not good . Lots of frost damage and extremely variable yield due to that August 18th ish frost . Some 10 bus / ac canola
West and NW of here they should be extremely grateful. Every other direction from here is not great at all. Some green canola fields still out
We ended up ok only because of a lack of rain actually during the growing season. Yields were down but we got it off because of accelerated maturity. Not great but we will take it.
Soybeans took a frost hit and a few acres of canola. But overall I guess we were lucky , if lucky means the top of the shit pile this year .
Good luck to anyone still trying to get er done and make a living doing this crazy thing we call farming 👍👍

Completely different machines. The case is a class 9 the Lexion is supposed to be a class 8
In the real world combine classes don’t mean much we found .
So the Verdict, they both did a very good job , in wheat the 9240 set up with the MAD concaves is a beast now so was a good 20% more , and should be . The 9240 I can run up to 1500 bus / hr with low losses . The 750 was around 1200 maxed out
Canola they were very close , you simply can’t push the case machines in canola. Both were at capacity around 900 bus / hr .
Black beans the case had a better sample , less cracks but once the Lexion got dialed in it was decent.
Soybeans was hard to tell both did a good job in the early (000) beans . The 00 beans had lots of frozen rubbery pods that no machine could thrash lol. Plus we did not want to . The seed in those pods in garbage anyway.
There is a MAV on both but the MAV on the Lexion sits too high and only does the straw. A tail wind and your cleaning the air filter daily on the Lexion. But that seems to be just an issue with the 750’s . The newer ones and 760’s , 780’s with Dynamic cooling are much better but also several $100,000 more lol .
Overall, I would still take the 9240. It’s so simple and reliable . The Lexion is a decent machine for it size , complex, and is a big learning curve.
I think once we learn to use it more next year it won’t be that far behind the case over all.
The amount of pully’s , belts , bearings and bushings scare me on the Lexion but time will tell.
A 760 Lexion would be a much closer machine but that was way way out of our price range given the mediocre crop and low grain prices .

One thing though , not an apples 🍏 apples 🍎 comparison . This Lexion is less than half $ of the Case as well .
So it will work for us for now .
In a dream world where we get more than 5 inches of rain in the growing season and crop prices were back to reality, 2 9240’s with MADs and Mavs would be ideal for us.
But every area and farm is different.
Plus we have no surplus revenue from oil on any part of our land so what we get from our crops is all we get . It’s a different world west and north west of us with much higher rainfall and oil wells dotting the landscape lol
Sorry for the long “verdict” Herc lol , but it was foggy this morning so I had time to think for a change , which can be dangerous lol

Just listened on the radio to Boxal what a ****ing asshole.hes done because he has dryers and pushes it and guys down south aren’t prepared.

**** you I have a bigger dryer than your little shit show I pushed every single day I have all tough grain that’s dry now and we go when it flows it goes. Only get one two days then it rains.

But that’s farmers mentality I’m done I’m special attitude.
