    Bale wrapper questions

Got a tube line wrapper here and lately has taken a liking to start removing the wrap off the bales by grabbing it with the carrier rollers under the bales. Drives me nuts as there’s no way to patch those holes. I’ve wrapped the couple of rolls that wrapped on the last line with duct tape and now the others are doing it. Before it would happen every thousand bales or so and now it’s after every 30-40.

Just curious if anyone else ran into this? Going to pull it in the shop this winter and repaint them but they aren’t bad at all unless someone has a better idea.

TIA from my cows later this winter😉

Havent had that happen but are they sticky at all? I'd try washing them if you havent already. When the stretching rollers start causing problems a cleaning helps them. Bearings on rollers still free or are they hanging up a bit?

Or is it the brand of plastic you are using?

You can wash the rollers with alcohol to remove any residues that might be grabbing the plastic. Ruling that out, it might be the plastic brand itself.

Pulled it in the shop and defrosted the rollers and covered them in duct and tuck tape thinking the rock chips on them might be grabbing the plastic. Cured it for 20 bales and then the same problem shows up. Talked to the plastic supplier and he suggested putting the rolls in backwards. Tried that and it’s done 50 bales so far so good without an issue. We’ve wrapped below freezing before and never had a problem so I’m chalking it up to the plastic brand.

Crazy things we do to get the crop off. 🍀

That's strange Tuck tape usually fixes everything lol.

Gorilla tape patches holes in the grain pan on a NH combine pretty good too. Hurricane tape for patching our worn out grain augers is top notch. Them patches have several years on them now and are still holding. 😉
