Mallee do you have any yield or income insurance that helps with a yield disaster like that?

We complain about the crop in Canada, but we are very lucky to have options available to us for basic yield and income insurance.

We get comment on this forum about how bad our crop and revenue insurance programs are, but have heard some say they are thankful to have them.

It's hard to tell but it looks like the feild has already been harvested.

When I asked Mallee about insurance I thought he laughed it off and said they don't have any available.
Maybe he should comment on it.

I'm not sure if everything is relative but their expenses may be alot lower than ours and their domestic grain prices seem to be alot higher than ours. Their freight to port is cheaper too.
We likely need more income to feed the parasites. Everything in Canadian Ag seems too expensive and our commodities too cheap.

Remember, insurance in Canadian Ag is designed to limit losses, not be profitable.

I wonder what the guys think who might have to leave crop out over winter.....and There will be no insurance on those acres because what they've already harvested will push them over the claim threshold. And then there's the point of ruining claims history, etc, by accepting a meager insurance benefit because you are just under the claim threshold.

Its not that fúcken lucrative! The programs range from almost useless to a poor backstop.

About 500 kms away in blue ribbon country darke peak south Australia.

Wondering why he made the effort to harvest actually.

Nope no insurance we get hail and fire only and some new frost products about.

One comment by a expolitician I know who was involved at looking at income protection said and I quote you guys may disagree “revenue insurance involving govt underwriting will push price of land up artificially “

Paragraph 3 by farma is spot on.

Prices actually easing quickly but stand off between buyers and sellers but if you got shit crops as above usually you have to sell for cash flow.

I’m holding firm against buyers chasing feed barley I want $270 on farm they want $245 a fair bit of daylight there.

Wheat for standard wheat still a healthy 270 on farm top grades 30 to 40 more

I feel for you guys in Australia that have no yield protection. With all the droughts you seem to get lately is must be hard sleeping at times.

There is no question in Canada that government support programs has gone directly into the price of land and higher land rents. Yield insurance obviously more important in the areas that have more yield variability between years.

Same politician went on fact finding tour in EU and USA to investigate subsidies.

His comments were if tax payers should be horrified.

And France I think he said farmer is getting high price fo his grain dairy farmer may get subsidy to account for high price grain , years of low prices ice versa farmers gets a top up.

We get a fuel rebate 38 cents a litre. Today’s price around 1.50 per lite diesel
