    Oct 28 Harvest report

Any guesses as to harvest progress last week? It will be interesting to read the latest report.

Notable stats from last week, as of Oct 21:

    55% of flax still out
    21% of canola still out
16% of spring wheat still out
Crop district 5A only 47% done

I think there will be good progress to report for the past week in many but not all areas.

This week looks like next to 0% is going to happen

No idea... but I do know guys have the money to pay their inputs still out in the field....which means their profit is still out there as well...

Personally I think she’s ball game boys.
I’m at wits end and have had enough.
I was thinking yesterday it’s difficult to comprehend all the work a guy does all year and at the end the job didn’t get done, makes you question what I could have done different.

Called Ritchie Bros.!!! lol In all honesty, this year was one for the books. Not much else a guy could have done. You put your head down and work until you can't anymore, and do it again the next day. When mother nature decides your time is up, nothing you can do about it.

Honestly, I think we're done. Just have a look at your 14 day forecast, steadily dropping, with highs of -9C at the end of the window. There a slight up swing next weekend, but they're calling for flurries. Hope it's not going to be one of those winters, everytime it warms a bit,,, it snows. Last time that happened we were buried , by spring.
          Normal highs +6C ,,, Normal Lows -5C

Yes will be surprised to see combines rolling again. Fair bit of snow already, another 5-10 cm before this system is through and the fat lady will have sung. However Canola futures do not seem to care.

If some canola doesn't come to market it won't be because it's in strong hands,
it'll be because it won't flow out of the bin.

Farmers have locked the bins for two years, the supply of every crop is huge, prices have no where to go but down. Keep them locked for another year and see how bad things really get.

The "chain" is choked full of tough/green count canola nobody wants to store. That has to pass through before any volumes are assessed, prices depressed till then, maybe by next July.

I have never overwintered canola before....is it worth combining in the spring or just torch it? It is in a swath.

I have the same question, have 30 ac standing and 10 in swath. Going to put it all in swath I guess and hope its not sprouted or totally shelled in the spring. Or a match I guess. Glad we got off what we did.
