TransCanada just used it in their spill....

Railways use it in winter ....

And neither are losing just deferring the movement of product. ...

Just wondering what would be involved and could it work for primary producers?

In 2002 Viterra transfered a Canola Contract to 2003, and gave us the futures inverted spread. I was somewhat surprised when they offered this... it got them much goodwill by doing it. Perhaps they [Vittera] had a Force Majeur they could transfer our farms Canola delivery to the next Crop Year...I had to prove no production to exercise on our land...for this option.

Bottom line ...the federal government doesn't give a shit about farmers. ...

The conservatives only talk about the pipeline ....agriculture isn't on their radar....the pipeline is taxpayers money to spend. ...helping agriculture will flow the money through the economy pretty fast.....

Oil and gas....potash...fertilizer...steel...are all light switch industries ...on and off...

They don't like the price even if they are making money ...shut down a plant or two...

Don't like the royalties...shut it down until the government caves...


Agriculture will finish this harvest and fire right into seeding next year....no stopping...no on and off...all the land will get farmed ...thats just the way it is...the personal casualty will be a little higher than normal but thats farming...

Eventually with the current policy it won't be long before farming is a light switch industry....because of the policy of consolidation in every business risk management program they put out there...and it started long ago....

I don't understand how drying costs have been downloaded to producers when the efficiencies come from doing it with higher volumes as well as more blending at a high throughput....if that sentence makes sense...


graincos consolidated to improve efficiencies then slow the system by asking individuals to do it themselves....

Graincos can't become more efficient when loading 134 cars in 24 hours and then leave the cars sitting for a week..... all the efficiency is gone....


Point being no one is trying to make the system work better they are trying to download more costs to the primary producer.....and governments condone the behaviour...even though governments are elected by people not companies....


Why isn't there a few temporary drying locations that farmers can utilize ?????


I could name a location that could be setup by a graincos and is centralized to help a lot of producers....they won't...and government won't push them on it either....

To most it should seem odd that Brad Wall is still lobbying for help with abandoned oil wells and there are more coming everyday......but not asking for the same help for a solution to dry tough grain??????

Youd be wanting a AOG clause not Force majeure weather events are covered by Act of God clauses. political and other human caused issues are covered under force majeure. So in other words if you have a delivery contract without an AOG youre expected to deliver or cover the contract damages.

It is an absolute nothing in the whole scheme of things considering the billions in the field and the billions of tough grain in the bins....The nonsense going on using frost fighters when an elevator could do it 100 times faster....is an absolute failure for all those involved from the province and federal governments...

Isn’t that the truth. The sask party don’t want the liberals to do any good for farmers or anything except oil and gas.
They’re a one trick pony show it’s so blatantly obvious not a peep about the huge losses to farming community. Not just drying but handling lost prices, beyond shit crop insurance program.

That is a pretty accurate description, I was thinking along the lines of tits on a boar, but that works. How hard would it have been to say that's a good idea and just signed the letter that the NDP sent. I am sick of partisan politics. This Sask Party bunch need to be kicked to the curb, but what other choice do we have. You will be back to a horse and plow if the NDP are elected.

The carbon tax on grain drying will be thousands of $ for a good % of farmers. Many will not finish harvest due to the lack of drying capacity.

I agree with you that more tough grain should be dried in terminals and if grain farmers were treated equal to other industries there would of been a MFP payment or Agri-Recovery payment already.
