Interesting map, the west and east coasts of the USA are doing the best, no oil in any of them and they are Blue Democratic states to boot.
Why are the Red Republican states who don't have oil sucking the hind tit.
Where's that entrepreneurial spirit the Righties like to make claim to?

Those record number of North Dakota farm bankruptcies and the low GDP in red states are all Trump's fault!Last edited by chuckChuck; Nov 14, 2019, 07:47.

How did North Dakota become a powerhouse with a high per capita GDP. Higher than Texas! It used to be a more agricultural state with a couple of air force bases loaded up with nuclear missiles ready to take on the Soviets.
What do Texas, Alaska, Alberta, and North Dakota all have in common?
Are they smarter? Do they work harder? Are they better educated? Are they better looking? No to all those questions.
The one thing they have in common is significant oil reserves and production.
Just like the rich neighbors who own the mineral rights and struck oil, they are lucky.
And its is hard to feel sorry for the rich neighbors because they complain about paying too many taxes or the price oil is now 50% of what it was. What bad luck they have!
The downturn in oil and gas is hard on those who lost their jobs to be sure. These people need help. They need retraining and they probably need to look for a more stable career.
What are Kenney and Moe doing to help these families? All I hear them talk about is helping the "industry". Kenney and More need to realize that the industry is taking their cash made during the boom elsewhere, they are becoming more efficient and laying off workers to improve the bottom line.

There sure is a lot of steam plants in that area , that’s great to see. Very economical , productive and environmentally friendly way to recover heavy oil .
Oil price will recover at some point . The climate always changes . And prepare for a few more years of cool summers and possible tough harvests .
Life will go on and there is no climate catastrophe or emergency or whatever

It’s kinda true that foreign capital is leaving with money from oil but our economy was built with foreign money for the most part. Just wanna say this - Norway broke away from Sweden in 1800’s just like we might have to do. Think Norwegians are happy their ancestors made the move? I bet they could kiss their feet all morning.
