    The whole industry needs a reset as to how it operates....The efficiency gains have went directly to CP and CN and the CTA rubber stamps increases without performance standards or monitoring the safety issues??????

        As much as that sounds like a loony sask ndp crown Corp in the making, rail is as essential to the lifeblood of the west as is heat and power. More so than a telephone company or liquor store.

          If the government is required to settle contracts because either the union or management can't do their job...then really why not nationalize it and put the profits to the general revenue fund...

          This is just stupid ...they are striking to improve safety and the company, government, or CTA does not want to fix it...somewhere the system is broken...

            Precisely. I can never understand management decisions of the railroads. They are constantly firing and hiring large sums. From the outside it looks like what the workers are striking about is conditions akin to the 19th century. It’s about why unions were started in the first place. Bad corporate decisions impacting the economy of a region.

              No one company should be able to hold a nation's economy hostage whether it be union or management decisions...

              Nationalize the railways before we lose all our markets to the FSU....someone do the math on losing a few more markets that the FSU are more than happy to infill with their investments in infrastructure and agriculture....

              And the liberals talk about saving jobs for SNC as an important election platform ..... yet jobs and farms are not worth saving....because they can be infilled by foreign aid to the Ukraine....

                        Demmurrage is always an excuse to lower prices even if the BDI says vessels are losing money actually moving grain....they are quite happy to sit and collect and grain cos can pass those costs to farmers....

                        Chicago wheat is worth more than Minneapolis wheat....go figure...very rare for that to happen....

                                Nationalize the railways and put their requirements under the infrastructure program that hasn't been used ....then get the money back from the Asian infrastructure bank and the 750 million to india and start building something in Canada...

                                FFS we have destroyed more infrastructure than some countries have.... in a time that production was ramping up....

                                This incompetence has to end.....zero vision.......

                                WE have fell behind the FSU and they are now a competitor ...they used to be a customer....Geezus....
