    Windfarm Blocked

Chuck told us that people just want to transition to cleaner forms of energy if we would just listen to them.

Turns out that's not what they want. They don't even want you in caves, they want you dead.

Dont gloat over a situation like that. That is a terrible way to do business and will cost the economy a lot, regardless which side of the green debate you are on. Who is gonna want to invest money in Canada anymore? An approval since 2016, almost complete project and then they have their permit revoked! Wow, just imagine what that lawsuit and resulting cleanup is gonna cost taxpayers.

Almost makes you nostalgic thinking about the good ol days when we got things done in this country...

If one government likes it they subsidise it, and if later, another doesnt, they bury it in red tape.

Heres a hell of an idea... government should get out of the way of private industry! If someone wants to risk their own capital, let them. On the flip side, If someone isn't willing to risk their own capital, maybe the taxpayer shouldn't help induce them to do so either.

Whos gloating. I said before that once climate radicals get their pound of flesh from the oil industry they will go after everything including renewables, hydro, nuclear, ag etc. You give these groups an inch they will take a mile and our politicians let the cat out of the bag by giving them any voice. They don't want solutions.

I voted for the elimination of the green energy shit and Doug has delivered. I am ecstatic.

Rule #1 of business. Don't get in bed with government because they are going to **** the wrong hole.

Fact: Since Doug came into power, my hydro bill has went down by 35%. I am saving thousands per year.

New Utility-Scale Wind Facilities to Add Up to 300 MW of Clean, Renewable Energy to Grid

              October 10, 2019

SaskPower Minister Dustin Duncan today announced the first stage of the competition to build one or more utility-scale wind facilities, which will see up to 300 megawatts (MW) of capacity added to the provincial grid.

“With this competition we are taking another major step toward meeting SaskPower's Prairie Resilience commitment to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 40 per cent below 2005 levels by 2030,” Duncan said. “It is also a demonstration of our commitment to building a cleaner energy future without the need for a harmful carbon tax.”

Wind power has decreased in cost in recent years and is an economical way of meeting SaskPower’s renewable energy targets.

“Today’s announcement builds on 387 MW of wind power projects we are currently in the process of adding at locations near Herbert, Riverhurst and Assiniboia,” said SaskPower President & CEO Mike Marsh. “We look forward to building on our already strong relationship with the wind industry as we incorporate this vital component of our future power generation mix.”

The Request for Qualification (RFQ) opens in late October 2019. The RFQ phase allows SaskPower to screen prospective developers on experience and financial capability as well as the environmental suitability of sites. This will be followed by the Request for Proposals phase, during which qualified proponents will be evaluated through a fair, open and transparent process. Project award is expected in late 2020 with the facility expected to be in-service by late 2023.

Saskatchewan currently has a total of 241 megawatts (MW) of installed wind power capacity from six wind power projects.

Way to go SaskPower! Take the bait and piss our money away on over-priced, foreign-manufactured piles of junk. Maybe we should lay out 50 square miles of glass so we can spend a lifetime repairing glass panels too. Total lunacy! All for what? Lets believe the lunatics that tell us that the most compact, safe energy source is evil. Sick.

Minister Duncan must be a climate radical! LOL

You negative Nellies should stick to doing what you do best and take care of your own business and leave the utilities to figure out what to invest in.

Duncan and Moe just scrambling to stay out of the way of the feds destructive policy. Otherwise carbon tax will become Equalization 2.0.

Better to invest in non economic and non sensical projects here in Sask than give it to Quebec. Just need to virtue signal for awhile until we can pry skippy out of there and the GSM takes over.

Show us the numbers that wind power is not economical for Sask power or shut up! Otherwise you are just full of BS.

Sask power is also investing in natural gas and imports of hydro from Manitoba.

Well the windmill out my door loses money everyday, its always shut down. Too windy shut down, too foggy shut down, too cold shutdown, too hot shutdown, geese migration shutdown, repairs shutdown. The solar panels below covered in a snowdrift or hoarfrost getting an hr of sun a day.

                            UNECONOMICAL

If it was private industry would have covered the prairies in panels decades ago.
