Can't be much of a 'wreck' or it would never pass an Ontario safety. Unless of course they are forging safety documents.

As long as it has a Salvage brand on it instead of an Irreparable brand it can be rebuilt, pass a safety and go back on the road with a Rebuilt brand on the ownership. About the only thing they put Irreparable brands on for is flooding or fire. I’ve seen wrecks so bad you wouldn’t know it’s a truck that have had enough parts replaced, fixed or made up out of thin air to pass the safety.

In theory you can take a VIN plate and start adding aftermarket parts to it until you get a vehicle that can go back on the road.

Heck there’s a place here taking wrecked 3-4 year old trucks and rebuilding them with big lift kits and a bunch of bolt on Chinese body bling and selling them for $80,000 on 8 year loans

The young guys get all excited over 6 inch lift kits,big tires,lots of lights and diesels. They will buy trucks like this. I have a nephew that has such a truck and so do a couple of his friends. I almost need a step ladder to get into the thing.

Jazz needs to hang out at Regina auto auction, ten grand usually gets you a darn good vehicle that gives you many years of trouble free service and if your not so fussy ten grand will get you a pair and a spare vehicle.

In the 27 years that I have had a license, I have owned two pickups. Both cost under $4000, and had over 300,000 km to start with. Had to park the first and upgrade because I got married, and apparently it wasn't fit to take into public. Both trucks were 6 years old, exactly 20 years apart, newer one loaded with every option. Not much for price changes in the high mileage market over the decades.

Just remembered, I owned a third truck very briefly, when the first was out of commission while I rebuilt it after another unscheduled meeting with a moose.

Well look at that difference in price, $34k for a full load to close to $55 for the same features. For $20k difference you could just about replace every part that mattered on that vehicle.

Because, as they say, confession is good for the soul, even though it may destroy the public perception of the walloping wealth and licentious luxury controlled by greedy producers of food and fibre (HOW DARE YOU?).

And how about this - evidence to support the story of determined destitution, a picture of AF5 the day before he was wedded - a photo which provides penurious proof that his hindsight is half gone and his future is dim and dark...

Forced austerity is almost correct, more like voluntary austerity. While my peers were buying new toys, and adding all the accessories possible, I drove for pennies per mile and put all my income into land. Unfortunately, my method wasn't as effective at impressing the ladies in the short term. But in the long run, it seems to have worked.

Yeah we had a kid working for us when he was in high school, as soon as he graduated and got his first minimum wage job he bought an $80,000 3 year old rebuilt jacked-up blinged out diesel truck, they “helped” him find somebody that would give him a 10 year loan on it. 6 years later he’s wanting to get married and find a house and he’s so far underwater on the truck he’s stuck.
