If you watch the article, the food rationing will be done by issuing people a carbon budget linked to your bank account. Buy some local organic carrots at twice the price = good, buy some steak = bad, and you are penalized (ie taxed).

And you can see a carbon budget being forced on farmers as well. You have xxx emission credits to grow your crop, go over and you are taxed at triple rate or something stupid.

I don’t think the significance of this is understood by most farmers .
Especially by those who are cheer leaders for the carbon tax .
This will hammer net incomes of all farms , regardless if you farm 500 ac or 50,000 acres .
Net result will be the same for all with absolutely no way to pass this cost on.
