Isn't it funny how wind and solar are always shown in green on these charts. The least green of all of the current offerings. Hydro and Natural Gas or even Nuclear would have been more accurately displayed in green.

Your title makes it sound like there was ever any doubt about oil demand growth. Near as I can tell, the only place there wasn't growth was in Chuck and Grassfarmers posts, and the misleading headlines they were cut and pasting.

I thought Trudeau was going to kill oil!

Prime Minister Harper said we would stop using it and fossil fuels as an energy source by the year 2100. What a radical! LOL

This forecast clearly show the end of coal for electricity before 2030. Other than natural gas our electricity supply will have quite low carbon emissions. And renewables are a significant part! Hydro looks dominant.

No doubt we will be dependent on oil for many decades until another large supply of portable energy comes along. What will it be? Batteries for sure. Hydrogen?

Oil will also remain an important industrial feed stock for petro chemicals.

Its not all gloom and doom is it? There are lots of opportunities for investment, innovation and new technology.

hydrogen as in fuel cells. Toyota said all its manufacturing and cars would be zero emission using hydrogen fuel cells by 2050. Not sure if they still stand by this. Can it be done?

They already have the Mirai. "Mirai is the first mass production hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle. Powered by hydrogen, it enables you to enjoy silent, responsive, long distance, zero CO2 emissions driving - while only emitting water from the tailpipe."

Looks like there are only 3 hydrogen filling stations in Canada at the moment.

There are 44 stations in California and about 7800 vehicles in the USA.

So long as its replaced by a viable, economical replacement found here in the west, then I have no problem with this.

That's what is happening in Sask. Gas, wind, hydro imports, co generation, solar, geo-thermal (which is just beginning), maybe nuclear.

Coal is done. Gas is abundant, cheaper and cleaner. Coal with CCS is too expensive says Sask Power.
