now i realize theoretically , you don't pay carbon tax (haha) on the other charges but you are saying your yearly heating bill is $410 which is impossible
and daughter has south facing windows , great in jan , but AC will run constant in july, aug to keep you from being "overheated"
Yes I may have been slightly wrong on gas usage 10 year average is $ 491
        2010-$508, 2011-539, 2012-393, 2013-412, 2014-$452,2015-$392,2016-$560,2017-500,2018-560,
        2019-$630
But carbon tax quote of $6 per month is accurate on transparent bills. And yes there will be some added to All our inputs that we Can’t see, but my point is that At the rate it is now it is nothing compared to some other costs that NO One complains about

Going by these numbers, you obviously don’t dry any grain. This is amazing for 2019, I wasn’t aware of anyone in the prairies who took all their grain off dry.

Most farmers who dried grain will have paid more in carbon taxes in September than your annual natural gas bill is. This tax is also on electricity.

This is a very significant extra cost.

This is my gas usage at house Only
Grain is usually Only cooled overnightwith airation as it’s Dry but Hot ,Only Actually had 2 bins that were much over 16 . And I realize that drying grain with Gas is a big cost. So why didn’t Moe work with Melli to get it exempt ?
Moe said no , he wants to make this his political football

With all my house, shop and farm electrical carbon tax is still is only 6/month

A lot of grain was dryed in bins this year using low cost indirect heaters like frost fighters using diesel with no carbon tax on it. Not the best way to go if you have to dry grain large volumes every year but it certainly works and can be set up in a few hours unlike propane and natural gas dryers which can take many weeks and lots of red tape. No tanks were available for propane.

Indirect means up to half the heat goes up the exhaust. Diesel is roughly 4 times the cost of natural gas per BTU, so to save the CO2 tax using diesel to dry grain, only cost almost 8 times as much as using nat gas and paying the CO2 tax. There is no free lunch.

Yep it is expensive. But there were very few options on short notice for many farmers.

The cheapest way is in the field with wind and sun.

Until the carbon tax goes up 100x , which is what some of the lions in the liberal government are demanding.
You’re right , not a huge cost yet , but it will be at $200/tn . That’s why most of us are saying no to the whole scam . Once the barn door is open it could get ugly for all of us if we don’t push back

Well said Furrow. A recent guest on my favourite qr 770 talk show from the Montreal Economic Institute said that for Canada to reach its C02 emission targets by 2030 we will need a carbon tax of $250 a tonne. If you look up the M.E.I. on Wikipedia it is interesting to see that Maxime Bernier had served as its Vice President in 2005, Joe Oliver served as a Distinguished Senior Fellow in 2016. So not really a bastion of left wing thinking. So for people like Mustardman and Chuck2 that think today's carbon is just a small irritation I have a hard time pencilling farming in western Canada with a $250 a tonne carbon tax without significant subsidies. It is certainly a prime example of the boiling frog, western Canada is the water and we are the frog!
