    Lithium & Helium

Here is a good news story for those who think its all about oil here.

They found lithium in the Leduc wells and are now promptly going after it.

And Helium in the SW sk gas wells, just happens to be a world shortage.

Interesting, some subsurface drilling rights just sold off in Sask to look for lithium. Its right there in old wells and as a byproduct of potash production.

Sorry Mr Trudeau, we still win the resource game no matter how hard you try to shut us down.

https://www.jwnenergy.com/article/2020/1/saskatchewan-sells-five-blocks-rights-brine-minerals-including-lithium/ Saskatchewan sells five blocks of rights for brine minerals, including lithium

if lithium is to be developed in Saskatchewan, it would be coming from brine underground. Sayeed noted that there are several sources of brine in Saskatchewan, including oil and gas wells and prairie evaporite (potash) production. Both have lithium as a dissolved solid.
“The idea is to extract lithium from the brine,” he said.

There is probably some uranium in it to.

Should be a nice research subsidy built into it .....just to get things started...

Begs the question. ....what's the difference between drilling for oil or drilling for helium....

Wells are already drilling, mines already opened, so much lower cost to produce, much lower environmental footprint. Guess the oil companies paid for that part already, but they will get zero credit and a lot of hate anyway.

I wonder if they found any helium
3 lol. Think MRI machines need helium and it in short supply. I got the impression as the helium tanks you buy for kids balloons at Walmart have gotten smaller and the helium is cut with other gasses as the floating properties suck. My opinion if the stuff is that short for necessities like medical imaging then hell with balloons

And diesel fuel is needed for your tractors, combines, sprayers, swathers, grain trucks and the vast transportation network desperately needed to move our exports via trains, trucks and ships . And will be for a very very long time.
So it’s a win win , and the push to shut down oil is ridiculous .

No, not really, there are alternative battery technologies that don't use Li, that could be used, and previously were used, Li based batteries just happen to be the best option currently.

But you can't build an electric vehicle without fossil fuels and all of the associated petrochemicals, not to mention the fact that almost all the energy to power electric vehicles comes from fossil fuels.
