I've been to Iran. It is an incredibly progressive society, with an unfortunately regressive regime that is there, in large part, thanks to the Americans.

Maybe you miss understood my post. The impression that I have is Canada, Britain or France wouldn't suggest the plane was shot down unless they were pretty much certain that it was. Whereas chuck was casting doubt. This is one time I will side with the Canadian government. Although I am not sure what their response will be.

So they might have been expendable in the eyes of that govt. Maybe the message was for the west and its own minority population trying to demonize the west and set more people aflame.
