    Trillion Trees

In davos right now, greta is going completely apeshit on everything and every one.

Trump quietly steps up and solves the supposed climate crisis like nothing and shames the bleating climate animals at the same time.

President Trump on Tuesday announced the United States will join the "One Trillion Trees Initiative" launched at the World Economic Forum as world leaders seek to combat climate change.
Trump made the announcement during an address to global business leaders gathered for the annual event in Davos, Switzerland.
"We're committed to conserving he majesty of god’s creation and the natural beauty of our world," Trump said, adding that the U.S. "will continue to show strong leadership in restoring, growing and better managing our trees and our forests.

Maybe they should have left the rainforest where is was ....now they are going to replace it with what was torn out????

Weird that the ecologist couldn't have thought quicker with all that education and all...

This thread is change in tone from the previous ones that complained about trees and the Liberal plan to plant a billion trees in Canada!

If Trump says it, it must be a good idea? LMAO

Planting trees is indeed a good idea. But maybe farmers should not bulldoze all the existing ones that grow around their seasonal and permanent wetlands.

Then there is the problem of increasing number and area of forest fires that are releasing significant amounts of carbon.

Its going to take more than trees to turn this ship around.

Nope nothing has changed ...my previous comments about Trudeau's plan questioned what the existing regrowth in natural forests was doing to help climate change...

Basically what is the difference between planting a tree or the natural regrowth that occurs....oh yeah ...regrowth is free...planting trees requires money...

Now as far as this guys idea about planting a trillion trees....someone should have been paying attention to the elimination of the rain forest in South america.....the worlds lungs....

Very little land in western Canada was cleared for ag. This was natural grasslands, most of it, some marginal and would be unable to support a lot of trees anyway.

Says in the article this wouldnt be urban or prime farmland.

If they want to plant trees go for it. At least you get something out of it instead of a $100k tesla sitting in your garage or snow covered panels or stationary windmills.. Should put the socialists on the chain gang planting them too.

True ....but the buffoon in Ottawa is listening to a 16 year old Swedish girl....maybe someone should point out Canada is not hers..

The point I made poorly is there should be credit for natural forest regrowth....

Why do these guys keep stumbling over the solution. You want some trees then go pay every ***** farmer to take 10% of their land out of production to return it to wetlands with couple thousand trees. Greta can inspected each farm personally.

Already have too much food, might as well get paid to fight imaginary unicorns and fairies.

Harvest one mature poplar and 25 new ones will sucker from the old roots as long as it is not converted into fields.

Even if you don’t “harvest” them they’ll still sucker out 50 feet every year. More prolific and harder to control than thistles or anything else for us.

Because of ample supply of treelets at the Indian Head tree farm, we planted and roto-tilled and hoed miles of shelterbelt - more than 3000 trees. Gotta say, they are beautiful now and well worth the effort. 👍 Kubota. This is a common story at many farmsteads around here. If they gave us credit on carbon tax, we could easily double that. 💪 I doubt the tree option will fly because who is going to fill their pockets with this option?
