Here is a quote from a NFU press release they sent to environment minister Jonathan Wilkinson "outlining the urgent need for a rebate on pollution pricing fees currently being charged on natural gas and propane used for on-farm grain drying." This sentence raises a couple of issues, what the f#*# is a pollution pricing fee? Call a spade a spade!!! It is a tax!!!! Second if this rebate only applies to on-farm grain drying what happens to someone like myself who does not have a dryer and gets his grain dried at the elevator?

Because calling it a tax against global greening, or against plant food, or against a colorless, odorless, natural and beneficial trace gas just doesn't have the same fear factor built into it.

And reread many of Grassfarmers posts, the NFU hates all businesses, and is convinced that corporations are responsible for stealing all of farmers income, so must be punished. The fact that those costs get passed back on to the farmers is an unintended consequence that they never considered.

On that same note, I see the NFU is siding with the union ( what a big surprise) in the coop refinery strike. Insisting the Coop meet the demands of the union workers. Which will raise the costs that farmers have to pay for fuel, or reduce their dividends, which is in direct opposition to their constant theme about businesses being evil, and taking all of the farmers profit away. And why are they encouraging a refinery to get back to work in the middle of a climate crisis, why aren't they taking this opportunity to force them to close for good, so we can all use nothing but solar panels and Chuck and Darrin Qualman are setting the example. Get those refinery workers good jobs in the renewable energy industry instead.

Gotta hand it to Trudeau, he fooled a lot of people, lefties included like Notley. He snuck that carbon tax in on everything and now it stays and even lefty fools get hammered with it when they thought big bad corps would pay for it. Little guys pay taxes, thats never going to change. Man some people are dense.

What about all our generic, and for that matter probably alot of our "on-patent" chemicals? Most of our glyphosate is sourced out of china...

We stand a real chance of taking it up the pooper on the input side this year!

How about all the prepaid chemical that's been purchased at places like FNA? Are they going to be able to source supply?

And aside from the input side, who's going to be gobbling up our exports this year if everyone starts closing themselves off from the world?

i think it will be 60% of actual gas cost on next bill
real fu ck up for climatards because many farmers turned to dirty diesel heat instead of cleanest heating fuel (nat. gas) to dry their grain
who in hell would in a natural gas drying system now when Sask Energy energy basically tells people they don't want anymore customers with $200000 estimates to install and a 60% co2 tax

I struggle to believe the retail industry is just laying down and taking the tax. The heat and power bill must have increased for places like walmart, canadian tire,sobeys, superstore, coop. These businesses want their doors opening all year round.
It would help to have a higher regarded industry help send the message how this is just a money grab.

They have a way to recoup any carbon tax increases ....they pass them on to the consumer....plus a little extra for the headache....

The westons got 12 million to help out buying new refrigerators....
