Mallee, a feed ration question?

Have you used faba beans as a high protein feed supplement for your sheep and lambs? I think you call them lupins down under? Or is a lupin a separate crop?

If so, do they need a bit of milling, or will the lambs take them whole? The ones I grow are about the size of a large pea, not the mega stature.

I have googled a lot and found quite limited information on specifics.

I looked into it but haven’t tried it yet, I’d more likely use them for silage. There should be no problem feeding them whole, they don’t need to be processed for digestability in sheep and sheep physically handle whole corn just fine so the beans shouldn’t be a problem

Lupins and faba beans different both excellent feed currently I’m feeding about 1.2 kg per day for growth with lupins. Beans are better. Grow lupins my self.lupins around 560 per tonne on farm


$348 per head 84 kg or around 40 kg carcase weight ps not mine
