Canada has closed a few windows but has left the doors wide open during a storm .
All we can do now is hunker down a be prepared to clean up the aftermath like a tornado.
Could care less about what Trump says or does, leaving airports in Canada wide open for so long from hot spots will make a perfect storm here now . Trudeau can say what he likes now , the damage is done .
Good luck and stay away from others as much as possible is all we can do now.
Nice thing about being on a farm now is we can basically self isolate for the next 4 months if need be . We have nearly all inputs in place . Don’t really need to see anyone till after seeding.
Good time to go ice fishing and stock up on some tasty fish and if need be get a half beef from one of our cattle buddies . Also have a few very good native friends that can supply deer / moose at any moment if need be .

In the 1980’s and 1990’s Everyone bought into the Free Trade Chinese model of them doing the dirty, repetitious “cheap labor” work. North America was the “brains” and “technology” economy that was looking for “ultra cheap” labor and was way too smart and arrogant to do this work and outsourced it to China; India etc....

the only people that were making the out cry were the labor unions whose membership was loosing jobs like crazy and US/Canadian Primary industries employment was being hollowed out. Corporate management was giving it good the the unions that held them up for hostage over the years.

Also China was no threat, just a backwater simple people that need to be pulled up from the rice paddies to the modern economy of prosperity. The west would make them rich with more money and buying power and create the next new consumer of all North American products.

Our business leaders had no long term vision, they trusted the Chinese. They thought of them as no threat. They were after a quick buck and many got rich.

What we all forgot was that we are dealing with communist control and command regime and when we make them rich they will rise up against us. They also have a 1000 year view and can outsmart the average Canadian/American any day.

Trump was brilliant as being the first to expose this and has come down hard on China....we need to bring back industry to North America and take control of our future. I agree.

I am prepared to pay more for my drugs and bearings and chains to have safety and quality. I’m done with cheap Chinese junk products. I’m done with short term thinking business leaders that want to make a fast buck, I’m done with Governments that have no pride in their people and industry and concern for their own citizens and put foreigners over their own.

It’s time to look after our own safety and quit being stupid and naive that a foreign power will be helping us and take care of us. Globalism where North America is taken advantage of is over.....Unless USA elects Grandpa Alzheimer and the ANTIFA is back pulling the levers...

The union leaders directed their membership to protest themselves right out of a job. And continue to do so. BIG BUSINESS and BIG UNION are flip sides of the same coin.

Short term pain for long term gain. So, by outsourcing to China, manufacturers broke the Unions, likely for good. Now can bring the industries back on shore and start over again without the union anchor around their necks, and people will be grateful to have a steady good paying job full time job this time around.

We need to accept that by sending dirty, polluting, unpopular or dangerous or unhealthy industries to a country out of site and out of mind, it only made the worldwide problem worse, we would collectively be much better off by compromising the standards to allow the industries to come back to a well regulated safety conscious US( and what will be left of Canada) without undo regulatory burdens, and actually reduce pollution and industrial death/diseases on a worldwide scale.

No wonder China is in such a panic to show that they have this under control( regardless if they actually do), every day that global supply chains are in disarray, more businesses and countries and consumers will make the decision to go elsewhere.

Shoot first think later, that is the Trump administration way. Lofty goal probably great in theory , but how do you do it without massive disruption in critical supplies? There needs to be a C change in current supply chains. This will take years, well past the current administration.

Even if successful how would you look after the masses in China. Unintended consequences could be a bitch. You think the tariffs and trade war was disruptive.

They have in the past, they were in the process of doing it again, and this event just sped up the process massively. We need to become a part of that before we too are completely walled off (literally and figuratively) outside of the only remaining economy in the world.
