There’s 750 Americans onboard and it’s baffling they can’t get off in Hawaii. I phoned the number for the Canadian consulate in Hawaii but the number gets transferred to Washington DC and the lady there couldn’t care less. Then we got the direct line to the Australian consulate (shared with Canada apparently) and they are in contact and trying which is great. I’ve never talked to my MP’s office and the lady was very nice but totally unwilling to do anything.

Nobody is looking for sympathy, they would just like some communication. Norwegian tells me it’s up to the captain for what happens and my folks get told that corporate office plans everything. An email a day and a short phone call every couple days with this much uncertainty doesn’t seem to be much from my folks that I normally see every day.

      It is what it is.

Unfortunately they missed Australia as it is now closed. Probably going to California where the grand princess off loaded since they were set up. Things have worsened so I would expect they will be held on the ship for at least 14 days and tested. When they are allowed off is an open question. I am sorry but that is the only scenario I can think of. Just a terrible situation. The only possible good news is if no one gets sick and they get by the worst of the out break.

My uncle and aunt drove back on Monday from Arizona and there was a 3 hr lineup at coutts. Did 2000km in a day. The interstate system is fantastic.

Possibly will be in the news again after a bunch of “rumbling” from the engine compartment and the starboard prop quit turning today. Dad would probably love to be down in the engine room helping them out feeling useful.

Now it truly is the slow boat to nowhere. Half speed only now.

              The fun continues..............

Woodland - yep bet he could fix the the thing.

For the life of me I can not see how this can be an issue and not solved - dock the ship, take precautions to transport people to airport tarmac and carter planes to fly the passengers to their home country, self isolate at home.

Hoping there is a solution soon...

Assuming that no one has been let onto the boat in 14 days, and no one is sick, then the passengers and crew should be the safest citizens anywhere, and safe to unload anywhere. Who else can offer such a guarantee that they aren't sick, and haven't been in contact with anyone who has? Probably better off staying there than going through a crowded airport and sitting on an airplane.

                      🤞
That’s the plan and hopefully the fourth time is the charm. We put new seals in the hydraulic pump and steering motor on the D8 and it cured a major leak today. Then we got the D6 moved home to check it over too. My dad is probably suffering from cabin fever after being gone a month and he can “self isolate” on one machine for a couple weeks. 😉

I’m feeling like a kid on Christmas Eve ................. is it going to be a lump of coal or the shiny new toy ????

Should be one way or the other by tomorrow night. 🍀
