I think anything we consume domestically would be deemed an essential service. Anything we export may be debatable under current circumstances?

      Devils advocate is all.

Homeland Security deems agriculture as critical infrastructure amid covid-19 pandemic....

Not sure thats the same as essential service but Trump gets it....

Feeding cows, calving cows, feeding pigs, chickens, milking cows, cleaning seed to put into the ground in 30 days....etc preparing equipment for the 30 Day ANNUAL MEGA PROJECT!

          Sarcastic Answer- hard no.

Real and Correct Answer- HARD YES! Ag is an ESSENTIAL CANADIAN SERVICE! AND ALL THE INDUSTRY’S THAT SUPPORT IT!

For all the SASK Ag and AG CANADA lurkers and especially to our esteemed exulted Ruler....

DON’T YOU EVEN THINK ABOUT SHUTTING CANADIAN AG DOWN.....unless you want to add starvation to your list of achievement.!!!

SHUT DOWN THE PLANES FROM CHINA NOW!

STOP LETTING ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS INTO THIS COUNTRY AND TO THE FRONT OF THE MEDICAL LINES.

The USA farmer will be receiving MFP 1,2,3 payments due to the China trade war....sounds like more payments possible for this virus.
In Canada the banks and FCC will have more borrowing power with nothing going direct to the grain farmer.
In Canada agriculture isn’t an essential service.

In other news, most government workers and most other industries are out of $ after 4 days at home.
The lifestyle of paying for a $600,000 house in Regina/Saskatoon + daycare + nice camper with seasonal camping site + 2 newer vehicles will be getting a correction or a bailout with borrowed $.

No, not in Canada, having a functioning energy industry isn’t essential either, we’ll just import everything . The only thing essential to The Canadian govt is having people dependent on them , oh and legalizing marijuana , that’s very essential.

I was going to start a thread to ask this question , but this one seq ways into what I want to know. When this pandemic shakes itself out and is done, and we have seen supply chain disruptions which may or may not cause shortages of food, medicine, and basic life essentials will our leaders suddenly see that we should have as much control as possible over our food supply and security? Will union leaders and members understand that maybe if they hadn't drove the price of labour up that we would still have those manufacturing and processing jobs here close to home. I understand as a country that produces more than we consume that we are totally dependent on two way world trade to create jobs and in turn wealth, but maybe just maybe this will be a wake up call for all Canadians that we need to take care of us first.

Wonder if the strikers at the refinery are social distancing. Might need gasoline for moving food and medicine.

It will end up being like the Saskatoon Coop when most customers forgot they are on strike.
Federated should get every farm and retail location filled with 65 cent diesel and tell Unifor to go to hell.

500,000 signed up employment insurance this week in Canada....lots of potential workers.

How about our TEACHERS, are they paid now that schools are closed? Really should park all their demands till after this blows over. Ontario teachers strike has fallen off the news, wonder why? How essential is anyone? Not us for sure.

Elementary settled today and secondary called off strike action. Most teachers in agreement that school year is over till September. Next school year will be a catchup year for most kids.

any UNION out on strike now, essential services or not, should be ashamed of themselves. This no time to be holding a company, or a country hostage. The same goes for anyone that supported the Blockaders, and who hate the resources sector - INCLUDES, the NDP, Liberals, Green, Bloc, National Farmers Union, and anyone else.
