The problem I have, if people are stupid enough to break the law and not self isolate or practice social distancing, maybe a few beat down videos on the news will get people’s attention.
Realistically a few bumps and bruises don’t hurt you but this virus might.

We should have a provincial police force. We had an accident with a loaded semi. Our driver was almost killed rolling the semi and taking out the right side of the bridge. Even though a 15 year old popped onto the road from down in the creek, the cops tried to charge our driver for being on the wrong side of road- except I had pictures at the scene that proved with tracks and right bridge railings sheered off. That’s why I have so much faith in the cops.

I've heard of 2nd and 3rd hand reports of people coming home and carrying on as usual, socializing and outright stating that the quarantine doesn't apply to them. Fines are a good idea, but I can't imagine how it is going to be enforced.

Friend was in a bank and heard a woman just returned from a trip. What the hell,there sure are some stupid people that just don’t get it. Good that there is going to be a fine issued now but in my opinion should be a lot higher! That would make these “F”ing idiots think🤔. Oh I forgot you can’t fix stupid. You maybe not sick yourself but could be a carrier of the virus. I know things can be enforced by shutting everything down and bring in the armed forces for policing. Hopefully it doesn’t come to this but no one knows how bad it will get.

Man, this is what I am getting at, civilized and lawful societies don't take people out and beat the F out of them to prove a point. If you all want this mandatory self isolation to work let's bring in the army to patrol our streets and rural roads. We can have checkpoints and you will have to carry your papers with you to prove who you are and what your virus status is. Let them enforce the law , don't take people out and beat them.

To play devils advocate, society not being worried about a beating is why we have people infringing on property rights, lipping off even though they know they are in the wrong, stealing, etc.

So is society better off with a few beatings when people step out of line, or the hand holding of the wrong doer like it is now? Because it seems to me that society is going down the crapper as it is now.

My guess is somewhere in between.

What’s wrong with a beating, it’ll probably only take a few and people will toe the line.
This virus is kinda strange, some people hardly have a symptom some will miss work a few weeks some will be in intensive care on a respirator and a whole bunch will die, so a busted lip a loose tooth and black eye really isn’t a big deal.
In a civilized society you wouldn’t have a problem with people following the rules, half the people don’t give a crap about the next person, have you bought toilet paper lately or hand sanitizer, and you believe we are a civilized society we’re a bunch of savages really not much better than rock chucking monkeys when s hit hits the fan.

I like history,I like reading about it, I like talking to old people and I like learning from it. So humor me and let's do a little exercise. Just pretend that on every thing you have heard in the last 2 weeks you replace the name Covid-19 with the word Jew. Now granted Covid-19 poses a great threat to our health care where the persecution of the Jews was pure evil perpetrated by an insane man. That however is not my point, the Nazi's through a campaign of lies, fear mongering and government control of the media, were able to convince segments of their population that it was necessary to expose and ultimately exterminate the Jews, and it didn't take all that long to convince people. Do you guys see the similarities? In 3 weeks we have seen a scared and somewhat misinformed public fighting over toilet paper and now with the order to self isolate you are advocating violence against anyone who doesn't comply because maybe a good beating is what they need. Let's just round up all of the people we think may have Covid-19 and send them to a camp where they can't harm anybody. Have we learned nothing from history? As much as we lie to ourselves that our society is now "woke or awakened" or what ever the progressive left call it, we are still the same. When humans are scared or threatened we revert to our basic instinct which is self preservation and that usually leads to violence against those who they believe are threatening them.

So you feel that it is ok for people to risk other peoples lives by not self isolating? It is obvious that the risk of fines or jail time are not enough to deter them. I will say again, that society is going down the crapper because people are not scared of the current consequences for their actions.

No I don't agree with people putting other people at risk by being stupid, this is no different than people who drink and drive.

Why do people think it is ok to advocate violence against said stupid people?
That would make them no different than the SS soldier who thought it was ok to kill a Jew because they were brainwashed into believing they were a threat.

Hitting home to someone that risks your life or steals from you is hardly comparable to genocide.

Fair enough, but is it if you happen to kill that person when you are beating on them?

Think back hard 6 months ago and ponder what you probably thought could never happen.

Now redo that thought experiment today.

Usually essential services have a tendency to be taken over by govts in the name of something other cause.

read the war measures act. just because people need to eat doesnt mean anything to most govts including our own.

My comparison of the two was maybe to extreme, but what hasn't changed is the human thought process. People will justify their violent actions and the results of those actions by convincing themselves that it was what needed to be done and it wasn't their fault that they did it because the other person was at fault. The exception to that would be if someone was in your home threatening your family.

It was that way in the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s and people seemed to make it work. I wasn’t around then, but my father told me stories of lots of squabbles being settled behind the barn. And people had respect for each other. Not the screw everybody else mentality there is today. Maybe I was just born a generation too late is my problem.
