You’re far from alone if it helps any. A friend of ours in her 80s has been on a ventilator in a coma with COVID for 18 days now with no sign of improvement. Yesterday a nurse set up a Skype chat on her phone so her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren could say their goodbyes even though she’s unconscious.

Mallee our thoughts are with you. We went through this with my grandma who we lost 13 months ago (although the dementia started taking her before that). I can only imagine how the Covid situation would add stress and complicate the situation. If you need to talk or email I’m sure any of us would be honoured to do so in return. It’s lonelier than normal out in the middle of nowhere especially.

Take care and keep us posted. 🍀

Guess I’m stubborn frustrated hey maybe dumb.

Have to go intommorow meet with docs brief phone chat today.

They want a ct scan I said she had one in November hips buggered both of them which they wouldn’t operate on when she was 80;to old.

So now there talking maybe keyhole surgery on her spine if there is a problem or it could be this could be that, she’s good except her legs we wanna get her going again.

Well why didn’t you fix her hips up almost 10 yrs ago I thought but bit my tongue.

So it’s all out to get her going which hey medically it’s good but morally she’s stuffed and physically.

She got I’d say 90% of her marbles just a bit forgetful.

Anyway thanks for your thoughts not often we’re all on the same page seems we’re are with this one as we all have had or got aged parents.

I guess if someone’s sick of the topic they will let me know.

            Bit complicated at moment.

Doctors say mothers upper body is strong, she can get around on a frame just.

They would send her home if she could get a carer, truth be known they said she should go home need space for potential cv19

Covid19 now one carer per person not 3 hours per person. Meaning careers looked after multiple oldies.

She really doesn’t think she can handle home life offer to stay here said nah prefer to be in town near friends 16 kms away from me. Her house is right next to hospital.

She’s not sick enough to go to old folks home.

So basically seems she has to deteriorate to get any help.

            Keep ya posted

Prolly needs rehab to get her going. Gotta push, hospitals have rehab wards, they save them. I don’t know in this crazy covid world if same opportunity.

Take your point but only so much rehab possible and sensible in your 90th year

Care homes here are becoming like death traps. Sanitary procedures were never very good now the pandemic is rampant in a number of homes.

No covid in care homes here in Sask so far.

                    Truly a blessing.

I don't like hearing the care home workers getting thrown under the bus.

They are more front line than the professionals over at the hospital IMHO.

I think many of those people in the homes have Do Not Resuscitate or some type of living will.

                    That's a job I wouldn't want for any money.

minimum wage to do that job in a private facility in Quebec? I don't blame the workers
and feel sorry for the patients. An example of money efficiency in the private sector
dealing with lives that doesn't work when you need it to..

That is a very difficult job many here local do a great job I couldn't do it either for
any money. Salute to those workers!!!!!
