At the point when Australia had 1900-2100 cases, Canada had very close to the same number of cases.
Some where in the 2000-2100 cases Canada surpassed Australia, and we haven't looked back.
So that now, Australia 6500 cases, Canada 33000

Before it got to be a real problem we were not vaccinating the cows or orally vaccinating the new borns. The other problem was "barn calving" in the middle of winter....nothing like confined spaces to aid the spread. Afew would even be taken to the clinic for IV therapy, the real disheartening ones were the deaths after making that effort to save them, sometimes it didn't seem to matter how early you treated the calf. But vaccination definitely helped...even if it only reduced the severity of it....it made it easier for the calf to fight it....but it was so important for the calf to get that colostrum asap after birth. Having dopey exotic breeds never helped, seems black Angus calves are born already standing.....

Best of luck cattlemen, weather from year to year can have a huge impact on results. Pick a time and hope for the best. Fall calving isn't bad either but mama is going to need a better winter diet to support herself and the nursing calf, and her poor teats really take a beating.

You described that like a battle hardened veteran.

Only things you forgot were the ungrateful mother screaming in your ear and threatening to kill you and that stink that sticks to everything and doesn't go away until the caves start running around on the green grass.

Going forward there will plenty of test cases just south of us in Murica whether or not isolation was a good idea. It is going to be very interesting in the next couple months.

A place where rednecks blockade hospitals to keep medical staff from getting to work saving lives sounds like a perfect place for a test.
