One of the states not locking down. Over 200 cases in Smithfields hog processing plant in South Dakota. It produces 5 % of pork in U.S. This could get really ugly. Third plant to shut down.

So on the bright side, Couple of weeks time there will be at least 198 Employees ready to come back to work without any fear of infection , In a very vital industry can continue to function in some capacity.

But I get your drift.

I guess we need to ask ourselves if trying to save 77 or 154 million lives is worth the effort and price?

Sometimes I think Wikipedia can be a joke, but when you Google "pandemics" and read some world history on these things, no wonder the world sat up and took notice.
If it wasn't for the overall health of the population, modern medicine and healthcare, Covid-19 could have potential to be every bit as bad as the worst pandemics.
Do we know enough about it now to rest on our laurels and let our guard down?

Guess I’m a simpleton , but does it really matter we’re covid19 sits on the scale of previous pandemics, people are dying that could be prevented, wether it’s worse than flu or not doesn’t matter jack shit either flu can be prevented with vaccine to a degree cv19 can’t.
People are dyin* and there are measures to stem the tide.
Also wonder what is the tipping point when something is not deemed a hoax anymore, I find it quite insulting to those who have died, the front line paramedics and icu nurses and doctors that anyone can even mention the hoax word.
Selfish ignorant people that should go spend time in Italy or New York

Must be contagious in places on planet, if not here or in Oz. Many mutations, some years the chosen vaccine was for the wrong flu. All is risk.

Many on this forum demand less imports of goods and to bring the jobs back to this country. But when companies have consolidated to the point that the closure of a single plant can cut 5% of the supply, is scenario any better? Consolidation of industry and corporate vertical integration has occurred for the same economic reasons that companies have offshored production and creates as much if not more supply problems than off shore production when black swan events occur.
