So Forage have to be honest I grow very tired of people with an attitude like yours. The oil industry isn't perfect but in my opinion has certainly contributed in a positive way to Canada.
You are right personal taxes were high because wages were high, but no one was looking after the rest of albertans that was not collecting oil wages $1500/day plus signing bonuses, $40/hr operators, there was an oportunity lost, for albertans but some did very well. Equiptment paid for in 2 yrs with exorbitant rates ,bid by invitation only AKA buddy system .
No one wants to say any thing because they adored the corrupt, inept gov of the last 40 yrs .
The royalties paid to the gov wont start to pay for the cleanup costs. I cant say how much the gov collected in income tax from those oil workers i am sure it was lots and look at all the land bought and paid for to get out of taxes. Now they have more toys than they can afford and want the rest of us to bail them out.
I think they should go back over the yrs and send the bill to all the politicans that prospered immensely on the resource sector.

Not to mention I'm sure the oil companies will also receive some type of Federal bail out money being that oil is below $20.00 a barrel.

Do any of you have orphan wells on your farm land? Must be nice driving equipment around during seeding, spraying and harvesting. Hopefully some of these wells can be taken off your land and some farmers will get some benefit out of it

Gee forgie, have you forgotten the previous leftist Notley government appointed their own committee to investigate Alberta's royalty structure, and the NDPers found that royalties were fair to oil companies and the Government of Alberta and it's citizens. No adjustments were needed, no adjustments were made.
