Cold and cloudy here all day with drizzle off and on and it looks like the high for the day is 8.

I got a snapchat from my daughter in Regina with grandson sitting on the lawn in the sun in a short sleeve shit. What a contrast with me in a jacket and coveralls and gloves out shivering in the North east wind!

Thursday I think it was, it was 27 in Saskatoon, 16 here. Today it hit a whopping nine with a stiff northeast breeze off of what I believe is a frozen hudson bay. Two week looks like barely ten. Lots of freezing lows. The decent winter has turned into a record cold spring.

I wanna combine my crap flax so I can collect crop insurance and make seeding a mite easier to afford already!

Lambs are a popping though. Up from before sunup and to bed around midnight, in case anyone cares? Lol

I can relate. My brother shows up at 5 am to do a check so it’s my ball of wax till then. Every night there’s always some issue it seems and in the dark it’s always so much more fun.

Do you lamb them in a corral or out in a pasture?

Hope it goes smoothly for you. It’s been going ok but I think the price drop makes it seem worse than it is.

The stars have been really clear lately ............. one of the perks to doing the night shift in the middle of nowhere. 😎

Seeding in this area has ramped up this week. First guys started on Tuesday. Interesting mix of crops being seeded. Peas, wheat, one guy has seeded some barley. 2 guys were seeding canola yesterday. Myself we seeded our one field of peas yesterday. I used to seed more but combining peas is only fun about 20% of the time, growing tired of shaving them off the dirt. Looks like some rain showers later today going into tomorrow. Frost hasn't gone out yet but things are drying up.

Wish I had a brother sometimes. J/K my wife and I do this thing together. The girls are really helpful as well.

They lamb in a two acre paddock, then we move em into the barn and jug them for a day, check the ewes thoroughly etc. That two acre piece can get awful big at night. Half of it is bush and swamp. Lol Amen on the stars at night. If it weren’t so cold I’d take a cot out there and stay the night right with the sheep.

                        Minus two this morning.

Another planet no doubt. SEED CANOLA, yes seed early, seed often. May 20 is earliest to dare here. June 1 is fine.
