Ok rain makes grain is such a nice song and reality is it's true. But some times the rain just keeps going to a certain area and it makes mud.

Were not Mud yet but very little is seeded maybe a quarter here or there. Lots south were going to start today but that might have to wait.

Oh, anyone look at the long-range temps and nightly lows.

Yea things are going backwards fast.

The market thinks things are great in the USA and Canada perfect conditions as guys start Plant20.

The USA is getting dry from Colorado to Kansas. Wheat country?

So who got rain and who is missing?

Good luck seeding we are down to a section of Canola left to harvest. Drill one will start Wed.

Seeding time is stressful enough, I can't imagine harvesting and seeding at the same time.

I looked at the night temps for the week. It is just too cold. I guess you know how much it rained in Regina last night. Don’t need rain this time of year.

Cold to 15 but dry ,same pattern as last year. Looking at grain charts, why would any rational person want to plant a crop?

I agree on the why are we growing a crop this year comment.

Just about finished harvesting the last 1/3 of our 2019 crop and if we paid everything and purchased all the inputs for 2020 why are we going to risk what we just harvested to feed stupid people who would rather see us not farming and buy everything from Safeway.

We don’t need rain here to keep us in the Just not ready zone. Can’t be raining much if drill is still going Wednesday?

What a cold spring. Forecast is brutal. I should have topped up too wet to seed coverage I guess? Still the odd patch of field service here.

For what I plan to seed to grain, my latest thought is to grow cover crops, graze them or hay them and seed winter cereals. Was excited to seed fabas this spring, but I cancelled that with the ridiculous global warming spring.

0.15" last night.

Wind howling atm, so I'll likely be back in the field after lunch. Just need the pea stubble to dry out so it wont bunch up in the drill.

Top 2-3" is dried right out. Horrid wind yesterday had dirt moving in most every field that had been touched by a drill. Small seed establishment like canola/flax/mustard would be futile right now. Need 0.5" or more to make old moisture.

Only .22 rain over night. That's enough for the Ghetto now. I want to start seeding. May go as soon as the fields will let us, regardless of temps. We just won't go balls to the wall. Overwintered biennials are awake and saw some annual weeds and yellow mustard that already sprouted. Might be one of those springs we have to squeeze seeding in between the rain events.

We had soil temp readings of 5-6 lows to 10-12 highs about 2 p.m. the other day. Once the drill gets passed over it the black ground warms even faster. I don't think there is such a thing as perfect in farming, if there is it doesn't last very long....LOL!

It's not worth a shit. Showers almost every other morning, just like last fall. Wheat is coming off dry and hasn't deteriorated since last fall. Haven't had to do this in many years - hope I don't have to again.

Finally restarted Harvest 2019 and of course a general rain this morning.....sadly I see a good portion of my crop going in the ground in June.

Yea only thing we’ll seed is the 40 acre sand ridge Wednesday.

Be grateful you are only getting rain. We were forecast to get snow, but so far has stayed north and west of us. Apparently roads are nearly impassible in places due to snow accumulations.

Got a good start on spring harvest until supper yesterday. Ground is drier than expected.
