I think liberals watch and listen to anything CBC produces, its a form of early stage foreplay to them.

Society DIVIDED on every frigging topic....what a shame.

Americans vote 50-50, no agreement on good or evil.

One thing is for sure....farmers won't receive help from either liberals or conservatives
Don't think that is a fair statement, both the Libs and Cons have supported farmers more than any other industry except maybe G&O.
What more is it farmers want or need? Honest question!

Dairy is on a steady drip of government cash.

Farmers and ranchers have not been supported to the same effort as other countries that we compete with.

Example, CPPIB is invested in Ukraine's grain handling that is getting blown up. so now the Liberals are sending billions over there for the war effort , then more to rebuild and your pension plan is going to take some financial hits as well.

Meanwhile , drought that is out of our control will force farmers off the land so that Scott Moe can hang out in corporate farm board rooms and lobby for better government deals for the "future of farming".

Young guys that want to buy a start into this business can not even think about it. To earn the down payment takes so long , it better to put the money away and enjoy life. Starting at 40 with a downpayment isn't a recipe for success in this industry.

wow, just wow. The koolaid is flowing freely now. Or maybe harder stuff.

The feds just subsidized 2 EV plants to the tune of $1M per worker. Please tell me the equivalent for this business.

$0 investment in canola crush, road and rail transport, port efficiency and a carbon tax on everything to boot.

What is the solution? I agree with where you’re going on this but wonder where we go without it being corporate welfare or something which mirrors the inevitable slide to socialism and too much government involvement in industry. We got rid of the cwb and that was a fight.

Using dairy as an example is not wise imo. That industry is heavily regulated and the barriers to enter it are even larger.

The feds can help ag and many other industries by concentrating funds on adjacent infrastructure. Maybe toss AgStab and roll those funds into crop insurance would be a better deal too.

But any direct supports would come with such a stick that you wouldnt want it. So the feds create some market climate disaster program, they will just back load it with a bunch of hoops to jump through.

                      No thank you.
