How many acres will not be harvested this year?.

The question will soon become ...how many will not be harvested...

Wind damage....there is flooded out as I type ...flea beetles have fields written off already....cutworms stealthily devouring acres ....

In every crop there is damage . I know its still early enough to fix these issues considering the crop was near death this time last year....there is still a week or two before throwing in the towel....

Grainco's pushing their fall delivery basis special hard. They must of mistaken me with someone that wears rose coloured glasses.

After reading the article about a 165 car grain train from a Paterson elevator to the west coast....without a mention of how that starts....it's time farmers start getting their share of railway and graincos consolidation. ..

If the federal government would support farmers ....the grain cos and railways could be quickly put back inline where they belong...

They would actually have to compete instead of their collusionary tactics.

Any idea of how much is still left out from last year? Funny crop reports don't seem to be giving % harvested anymore for 2019 crop.

Good question..but Bibeau expects farmers to pull funding from agri-invest and with agristabilty you are expected to take 70 percent of 70 percent ...in other words it doesnt matter...take the loss is what is expected.

But doesn't unharvested or seeded acreage have anything to do with price? Or is everyone just getting top dollar now regardless of quantity and quality?

Still working on harvesting 2019 crop here, but I think I might be alone in the area now. Still 50 acres to go, rains every day, and breakdowns are constant picking up crop flat off the ground. Lots of seeding still going on the past few days. Not certain how much is destined for grain vs greenfeed/silage.

Think ninety some per cent of crop left out locally has been harvested, only significant yield loss would be on ground too wet to carry equipment and some wildlife damage.
A surprise to see number of sidehill seeps and high water table areas, a result of multi year high precipitation.
Smaller sloughs are drying up but many larger ones need another year or two.

I would guess there will be 10% less acres here, between areas too wet to seed and areas seeded but now drowned out. Also think lots of fields were seeded too wet now lumpy and hard so yields not gonna be optimal.

Our canola crops look awesome this year, best I’ve seen in the last 10 years. There’s always good and poor areas no matter what every year. It’s hard to predict that yields will be down at this time of year, Canola can really bounce back even if conditions are poor at this time.

If half inch or more = insecticide app on fleas. Cool bad, hot good for them.
Seems that bumper yields always cancel poor yields. Had those over the years, 2010 floods, 14 bu only on hills with WEEDS. Elevator said grades on spring threshed were #1 to CRAP.
