Poor families are often at a disadvantage because single parents and others don’t often have enough resources. Whether First Nation or non.

On reserve schools are also underfunded By federal government relative to non First Nation schools. Another diss advantage and barrier.
Is their tuition and books not completely paid for by the government? What is left to pay? Food and lodging? They would have to feed that kid already regardless of where he/she is staying. That leaves the added cost of lodging. Sorry if I don’t feel sorry that they don’t get more. The opportunity is there. They just have to take it.

P.S. that kid could work a job on the side like a lot of kids do to pay for all of the above plus the lodging. But you are right, it is them that the system is against...*

The system has failed them since the treaties were signed, its all a lie. Similar to the "Ag more then ever" carrot. When does society realize govt can't provide?

There is a double standard between Canadians and natives and it is more advantageous for the natives.
Did you know that alot of universities have different acceptance requirements if you have a treaty card. An example U of A, a person entering finance needs an average of 85% in classes to get in but if you have a treaty card you only need an average of 65% and they will walk over anybody else to get you in. Then tuition is paid for and depending on the band residence and meals can be paid for too. Our local reserve has better schools than ones I ever attended and they also send students to our district if they ask. Also once a week they have free meals provided from a local restaurant.
Our local reserve (maskwacis) had piles of money in the early nineties from all the gas and oil under them. They bought businesses and gave each kid 80-100 grand when they turned 18. Guess what, the businesses (restaurants, oilfield companies, service stations, golf courses, etc) only lasted 1-2 years and either closed or management was taken over by non natives to keep running. The kids that turned 18 blew the money in a month on toys,(thats why wetaskiwin has lots of car dealers) drugs, and partying.
Now they have nothing to show for it. They have lots of farmland but couldnt keep the farm going even. All rented out.
They receive free housing, free healthcare, free secondary schooling, and much more. Hell even their driveways get plowed for free in the winter.

The natives complaining that the government is the problem is like me saying the government is the reason im not a doctor. I could blame the govt for not getting 95% in all my classes because I wasnt given enough opportunities or I could realize in high school I was immature, never studied, never paid attention in class, and got the marks I did in class because it was my own fault.

Well that should make chuck froth at the mouth

Again two sides to every situation, always is
Your not wrong JAW but that part of reality is being overshadowed big time , and is being squashed at every turn now . It does not fit the current narrative or agenda driven by this Liberal government and its policy.
Self inflicted wounds are easily blamed on others. Sad but true in today’s society, all of society and politics BTW .

Costs a crap ton of money to keep a culture artificially alive. Just ask Quebec.

Not sure how this thread got so Far off track. Was meant to be humorous.
Does the lack of relevant responses indicate that No one else has heard the adds I'm referring to ? Or that no one else sees the similarities.
Seems to me that his responses on this thread just reinforce my observation

You are correct, I responded to Chuck's off topic rants here. I'm as guilty as anyone.

Even when I stay on track you are not happy. You have done your fair share of mud slinging.

As I said before present your argument. Back it up with some credible evidence. I have done that many times and the BS hits the fan on Sillyville.

Some of you who think that First Nations have all the benefits should go live on a reserve for a while and live their experience. Then tell us how it went.

Love the Champ "I says pardon me". Here is some history on the Champ, did you know the champ character was originally created by the McLean brothers of " I've seen pubic hair" fame and then refined and carried on by " Brother Jake Edwards " of Rock 101 out of Vancouver.
