There is a double standard between Canadians and natives and it is more advantageous for the natives.
Did you know that alot of universities have different acceptance requirements if you have a treaty card. An example U of A, a person entering finance needs an average of 85% in classes to get in but if you have a treaty card you only need an average of 65% and they will walk over anybody else to get you in. Then tuition is paid for and depending on the band residence and meals can be paid for too. Our local reserve has better schools than ones I ever attended and they also send students to our district if they ask. Also once a week they have free meals provided from a local restaurant.
Our local reserve (maskwacis) had piles of money in the early nineties from all the gas and oil under them. They bought businesses and gave each kid 80-100 grand when they turned 18. Guess what, the businesses (restaurants, oilfield companies, service stations, golf courses, etc) only lasted 1-2 years and either closed or management was taken over by non natives to keep running. The kids that turned 18 blew the money in a month on toys,(thats why wetaskiwin has lots of car dealers) drugs, and partying.
Now they have nothing to show for it. They have lots of farmland but couldnt keep the farm going even. All rented out.
They receive free housing, free healthcare, free secondary schooling, and much more. Hell even their driveways get plowed for free in the winter.

The natives complaining that the government is the problem is like me saying the government is the reason im not a doctor. I could blame the govt for not getting 95% in all my classes because I wasnt given enough opportunities or I could realize in high school I was immature, never studied, never paid attention in class, and got the marks I did in class because it was my own fault.

Well that should make chuck froth at the mouth

Again two sides to every situation, always is
Your not wrong JAW but that part of reality is being overshadowed big time , and is being squashed at every turn now . It does not fit the current narrative or agenda driven by this Liberal government and its policy.
Self inflicted wounds are easily blamed on others. Sad but true in today’s society, all of society and politics BTW .

Costs a crap ton of money to keep a culture artificially alive. Just ask Quebec.

Not sure how this thread got so Far off track. Was meant to be humorous.
Does the lack of relevant responses indicate that No one else has heard the adds I'm referring to ? Or that no one else sees the similarities.
Seems to me that his responses on this thread just reinforce my observation

Even when I stay on track you are not happy. You have done your fair share of mud slinging.

As I said before present your argument. Back it up with some credible evidence. I have done that many times and the BS hits the fan on Sillyville.

Some of you who think that First Nations have all the benefits should go live on a reserve for a while and live their experience. Then tell us how it went.

Love the Champ "I says pardon me". Here is some history on the Champ, did you know the champ character was originally created by the McLean brothers of " I've seen pubic hair" fame and then refined and carried on by " Brother Jake Edwards " of Rock 101 out of Vancouver.

So is it the brand new house for $5000 I believe is the number? The $100,000 cheque when they turn 18? The monthly cheque from the government? The free college/university education? Or the tax free income that they can earn that makes life so hard on the reserve?

Ever asked a native Canadian how come they can’t get ahead? The answer I get is that as soon as they start showing some progress, others come over and start mooching off of them. Eating their groceries, borrowing and wrecking the brand new vehicle they bought, having parties in their house and wrecking it while they are away working. Or outright stealing from them.

It isn’t the policies that are in place that are hurting the people on reserves. It is themselves.

I know if I had all those luxuries at my disposal, life would be a lot different. And in case you can’t read between the lines, I am saying it would be much better.

Nothing like a little racist stereotyping. LOL. You probably don’t even know you are doing it! Have You got A5’s intellectual deficit when it comes to sweeping generalizations? Did you miss the stats on reserve poverty, Housing water, schooling, social problems? Lots live in third world conditions in a system that they didn’t design under an act they do not control. But don’t let that stop you from blaming them for all their problems!

Are All of those problems you list a result of lack of opportunities, or squandered opportunities?

Going back to a previous good point you made about The socioeconomic status and trying to get out of it. I think we can angry on this. Someone's social economic status going up should in no way be an impediment to what they can potentially achieve. Access to education being a very big part of that. The very existence of hereditary chiefs goes against the concept of equal opportunity.

Is it racist stereotyping if it came out of the mouth of the people from the group you are accusing me of stereotyping? All I did above is repeat what I was told. Are those people racist against their own people then? But you don’t want to see that. It goes against your narrative therefore I am racist.

Did you miss the stats on chiefs sloughing money from government programs designed to help with the same water, housing, schooling, and social problems you speak of? OH RIGHT....THEY WON’T LET ANYBODY SEE THOSE STATS! Who’s fault is it really at this point if they are living in third world conditions?

All the opportunities are there. They just chose not to take them, or one or two people stepped on the rest of their own people to get ahead.

Stating the truth is not to be misconstrued as racism.

I believe people from your side of the spectrum said it was racist to stop people from coming from the hot spot where covid originated as well. Was it not?

This chuck sounds like hes never lived near a reserve or knows an actual native. I have second cousins that are half native. Some are great and do well. Others, well not so much.Chuck we have the reserve two miles away. Around pigeon lake for example they fish with nets in winter. First thing they do with the catch is go around the country side selling them. They own numerous businesses around the lake, one being cedar crest inn. They bought it and it folded in one year under native management. Now it is back running but leased out. They own probably 30-40 quarters of non reserve land by battle lake and area yet dont farm a single acre. All rented out.
Oh and I forgot to mention you should go to pigeon lake reserve and ask a native to show you their dump. They literally dump on a lease site. It is not an official dump by any means. They just take their trash there and throw it a heap and drive away. Then one of em lights it and start over again. Yet a pipeline is being built and they protest to protect the environment. Dont protest if you think throwing your trash in a 10 foot pile is justifiable.
