    Carbon Tax is insignificant......

Is what Minister Bibeau said yesterday June 9 , 2020.

If it is so insignificant then I guess paying farmers to sequester carbon on their land should be just as insignificant and should be just as easy to implement as the carbon tax.

This is where farm groups should be focusing their efforts now....implementing a per acre carbon credit indexed to the "price on pollution" ...that phrase makes me want to throw up.

What are we at 30 bucks a tonne for carbon tax so if an acre of land can put away half a tonne ....15 bucks an acre for farmers...indexed to whatever they go to 25 bucks an acre at $50 a tonne carbon tax...

Not quite as good as the irrigation districts but it would be a start.

It is sure good to have farm groups not willing to be outraged after she said that yesterday....

I wonder what kind of backpatting release they will have today...

In 2022 propane will have a carbon tax of 8.2 cents per litre.

Is the Liberal idea to eliminate agriculture in cold countries like Canada or promote spring harvesting? I don’t see an alternative if you want to have quality grain.

Maybe there is seed companies and maybe some farmer wheat groups pushing shatter proof Canola and Winter Wheat. They might have lobby status in Ottawa.

Doesn't matter what business your in, both levels of government are willing to walk all over us. We have 2 miles road to be built. Got an excellent bid from an excellent reputation builder. When asked why he lowballed it, his reply was not much work and want to get some cash into employees hands. Was on sandy land so early start. Was told by environment come start date that there could be burrowing owls, start date must be held back till end of June. Now someone thought they heard a rare bird in the area and they are being told end of September. Another contractor in the same area last year had a rock truck shut down for 6 weeks because a bird built a nest on it. The saying is " you can't fix stupid". Well you can't fight it either.

Is this a private road on your private land, or on Crown land? I assume you are developing a road allowance (crown).

If the CO2 tax is so insignificant, how is it Going to be the solution to an immediate climate crisis ?

I wish they could get their stories straight. Either there is an existential crisis requiring drastic measures to solve. Or else we can use insignificant measures to solve an insignificant non-issue. Perhaps Chuck can enlighten us. He seems to understand being hypocritical better than the rest of us.
In fact, hypocrisy maybe his only true area of expertise. He certainly has enough experience.

Where I work the carbon tax on just our natural gas bill floats between 12 and 15 thousand a month.
Power carbon tax is about 11 thousand a month .
It’s crazy and will drive more company’s south.
