Irrigation for friends instead of a good ag program!!!

So cats out of the bag. Liberals want a new program but sask party and Conservative party Manitoba don’t want a better program the don’t want to pay.
But yet they take out of our crop insurance which is ineffective out of date and they build irrigation for a few pals. Instant millionaires over night screw the rest of the sector.

If water and clean power generation was so important they would build another dam and hydro....

Then they could still let farmers build irrigation if there is money in it ....

Which there isn't.....


The irrigation announcement should be angering the general public....


2500 jobs a year after closing rural clinics or not putting doctors in them....towns without grocery stores and these phucking guys think they are going to be an economic driver.......the whole premise of irrigation and it's value is flawed....

What is worse is the infrastructure for higher production isn't there....

Riverhurst and Outlook had their rail lines pulled out....no primary highways. ....

It's all stupid....

But sadly the public is buying into it....because it is presented as a boom and they have forgot or don't know the last 3 projects are white elephants....

I think this 4 billion will help very few producers, correct me if I'm wrong but even if farmers get access to water it costs allot of money to put pivots in these fields. I think if they want to spend money on a big project it should be making natural gas access a priority on farms, it is undersized and no existent in most places. It would also lower costs and help the environment.
Internet and cell towers to make it accessible to everyone in Saskatchewan would be another big plus, people don't like the rural areas because you are isolated from the web.

Thanks to the recent Great Saskatchewan Land Grab, anyone who owns anywhere from 2 to 4 quarters became what you describe over the last decade. Even "Drylanders".

The natural gas re-distribution and capacity upgrades is a good idea. Even the people with an old gas service that want a large shop and a decent sized grain dryer have a service that is inadequate for today's farm's needs. Maybe they will run a new NatGas service in the new irrigation district to run the pumps. Now wouldn't that rub salt in some wounds.

Natural gas pumps are great.....electrical motors are better and they need power to run the pivots as well...

You guys don't have a sniff how much of a subsidy irrigation is until you see it .....and analyze it...

If there was money in it that west side project would have been done by the farmers themselves or an investment firm...

Tell me why investment companies that buy dryland don't buy irrigated land or make that investment?

I know why....it would quickly drain the funds...

Google sask government and find something do with Irrigation Efficiency program....tonnes of money ...but nothing for average dryland farmers and ranchers...

Money to guarantee a crop .....to the tune of 1000s per acre ...it will close in on a million a quarter of government money...

Was at the lake over the weekend and as I was driving into the park the pivots have flax canola durum/wheat ...its so beautiful.

Listen to the senile Lyle Stewart talk about filling grocery store shelves with produce from around here.....they haven't done it in 30 years and won't start anytime soon...the population doesnt know how much bullshit there was in that irrigation announcement...

I will say this.....Trudeau and gang couldn't hide the "WE" paper bags....

It looks like the Saskparty will get away with paper bagging a few million for each of themselves through the irrigation announcement....

Bill Boyd did the feeler for this by getting his farm and his irrigation project paid off off through his "unknown " landlord....to the tune of millions and now the sask party found a way to funnel money....

Boyd never even went to court over his corruption and I would bet if he ran again he would get elected...

Thats what we are to call good business acumen...

And it looks like APAS is getting in on the deal as well by the president blessing the project....

If the majority of people only knew how stupid it is to fund this supposedly multi billion potential business ...they would realize they will be paying for it for a very long time...and every business that comes calling will be asking for government money as well...

Meanwhile there is an article in the WP ...Death by a 1000 cuts ....that the average farmer will be run out of business due to more downloading of costs ...while other countries help all farmers....


All farmers in Saskatchewan are expected to fund a billion dollar project for 300 ....

And make no mistake this 4 billion dollar irrigation project will be funded by everyone but the people using it....

Proof....The three main irrigation districts were given their infrastructure for free and the taxpayer is still funding them 40 dollars an acre ....for 5 years....and beyond....that is 200 dollars an acre those irrigators don't have to pay...

2.8 million for the Outlook canals in the last WSA announcement works out to 60 bucks an acre they don't have to pay this year...even though it is now their infrastructure and they are receiving an annual benefit...

SAsk AG minister David Marit said the BRM programs are in place to handle issues and wasn't asking for AgriRecovery because the Saskatchewan government would have to pick up some of the costs....


Then BAM ...they have 4 billion for an irrigation project....

Only a few short months ago....and any expansion was to be to existing irrigation...
