Nice advert for communism. NZ will have a flare up so predictions of prevention will be premature. Given that NZ is dependent on tourism, how can they claim minimal economic damage? The debt downgrades and defaults are going to happen in NZ as well as many other places for multiple generations to come. Tourists are now a pariah so that damage is permanent.

Interesting thought on the impact to tourism. Obviously dealt a blow.

But if tourism is the darling of someone at some level, it will be facilitated in such a manner as to achieve the objectives of those someones.

It might not fit the old paradigm, but that's irrelevant.

That is exactly why the US and lesser extent Canada have Big issues ...... they both kept flights coming in from Europe and Asia .

Was not hard to figure out from day one , air travel was going to carry and spread this virus from hot spots . When that was ignored for various reasons the virus could spread at will .

NZ, like canuckistan, is a chicom satellite state. Did they restrict travel from china early enough to have made a difference? The next question is that what conditions are going to be necessary to impose lock down conditions in the future. Every time somebody has the sniffles? My wife has a close relative that has it. So far she is recovering well and her husband did not get it.
