Friday Crop Report on a Thursday!

Well, what a hot dry week that was. Fields are burning up and turning faster than a Trudeau taking money out of the public trough.

It is moving the 2020 crop along very fast. Some

    So here we go.

HRS some early fields have been harvested, and results are not up to par with the last two years. 40% below average on early fields. But let's think about it if your harvesting HRS in our area on the first couple weeks of august do you actually think it's going to be a great crop. Similar areas to the north have wheat off similar results. Fall shut down is happening on wheat that's in the ground for 105 days. Harvest will begin on these next weekend. Funny 2020 a 1/2 in rain at the right time a mile away from you might be the difference between a wow and a WTF. Top rows are not filling on late wheat with heat. My guess is still an average now for us as rain makes grain and floods are duds.

Fall rye is being harvested, and some fields did turn out not that bad, it took a long time to dry down, most is off or coming off now.

Peas the later fields are just about ready to be harvested the early are in the bin and drying down. Reglone is the choice of fall burn down this year for most and it actually worked with hot temps. Yields are less than last year 15 to 25%.

Lentils zero harvested across the valley or just starting next few days. Look good but time will tell.

Barley early is being harvested with the swath and wait 4 days and go. It is taking 4 days but then its ball to the wall. Later seeded seems to be thicker and will be swath on weekend with hopefully similar 4 to the 5-day window and go. Really late is basically shit this year as the rain started and then nothing to finish with shallow roots. The yield on early is 25 to 30% less than last year.

Oats is all over the map from burning to not bad to hail damaged that's coming back to thick. It all depends on the rain and showers of 2020.

Flax is turning and filling and did fill in not that bad its no 2019 crop but it's still made something.

Canola some early swathing is happening but guys are not really moving in an aggressive form. A Few fields that are 100% ripe but that area had maybe 3 inches all year. Next week it will be Canolas turn to either get swath or let stand and harvest that way. Canola crop is definitely not even in the same ballpark as last year it's in the minor leagues. It is our most expensive crop to grow and won't show much of a profit this year glad to support the Bayer BASF and Pioneer and others so they profit and farmers make nothing. Oh, thanks to Trudeau and BOBOO doing nothing for two years in China. That extra two dollars the middle man countries are making sure would be nice with shit yields. Anyone who thinks weeks of 37 is adding to the crop is ****ing retarded. Take a crop tour now.

Pastures are basically shut down. Slough grass etc. Late seeded for green feed really didn't get going and with dry august its been a dud. The second cut won't happen as fields didn't bounce back or are running out of juice.

Well, that is it in a nutshell for our area yields are below last two years by quite a bit. Its a barn burner Sask ag and food and all experts. **** me I wish guys would get out and see. Oh well, I was right the last time the BS said we had a huge Canola crop and then took three years of magic with numbers to finally show I was right.

A few years ago most farms moved up there farm and were actually getting bigger crops and pushing the envelope province-wide. So is this crop like 2020 in yield no is the answer is it like we had in the 70s no is the answer. Is it massive no is the answer. Is it going to come to a basic average across western Canada? You bet it is.

Just over crap insurance so they are safe and other insurance is also safe. AG Stab well maybe on a few but most likely not a penny.

Winners are the chem fert and seed companies they got paid upfront and win win-win. Oh, prices are in the tank so farmers guess what its next year country.

So all get out to get this crop in the bin at least quality should pay some bills.

Stay safe and enjoy the harvest as even at 25% less it's still A fun time of the year.

Oh, i would say the harvest for our area is at 6% complete. South of valley its moving a lot faster. Ne also moving along.

Two for one doesn’t make much sense so it’s still the same.

Changing harvesting methods is proving difficult..... AND having a negative impact.

You raise a good point Sask. Larry W will have to incorporate harvest date, or seed date to harvest days, into algorithms to predict yields to account of this type of weather, - HOT

Bly getting swathed because to many green buggers.
Canola turning rapidly and we had more rain than most.
Early will be better late seeded a dud.
In yr like this every day in the spring mattered.
Just hope its all done in a few weeks unlike last yr..
                  Keep safe fellow farmers.

Wheat didn’t fill like it should of.

My beef on yield is with a company that came out early and all believe there BS.

Now shit has gone south and not a peep.

Sask ag and food still will be great just a few bad spots.

Early yield except Manitoba winter wheat and some peas are all lower than last year.

If you shoot for 90 plus wheat and get 60 or less that’s not a bumper in today’s farming world that’s a disaster. If you shoot for 25 like most crop reporters and get 30 that’s a bumper on your farm.

Can I borrow your rose coloured glasses.

It didn’t fill thanks to the heat.

This didn’t fill to potential thanks to dry weather

                        FFS ...saskfarmer.....wtf do you know....

What you don't know could be put on the head of a pin.....and there would still be room for what you do know....

                        Lmao...full sarcasm....just poking the bear....hahaha....

We knew two weeks ago when the heat hit the crop couldn't put the moisture to the head....market experts like Townsend ignored it...he has suffered or will suffer major credibility with people....

A tour of southern Sask has me predicting lentil yields average to below 1200 lb. Podding was just not there and lots of disease patches would produce zip. Lentils even at 30 cents a pound provide a pretty meager return. A lot of guys won’t bother with lentils next year if there is no improvement in price. Many lentil growers around here went back to reds this year and I am hearing some 6 to 8 bushel yields in areas that got a bit of rain. We haven’t cracked into a half section of those yet.

Maybe early seeded durum will fare better than late around us. This heat has put a lid on everything and especially the late seeded. But we may be happy for this hot spell if it freezes early. I’ve experienced combining lentils at near 100 degrees and 4 or 5 days later the “f” word.

As for Canola, who knows? I don’t know how anything survived with no rain. 2/10 and 3/10 a month apart doesn’t make for a bumper crop. 🦨 All rain systems avoided this area like the plague.

                              well , its real simple
anyone dumb enough to believe this horseshit (my apologies horse) these libtards are slinging, climate emergency, green power generated with unicorn piss, etc., etc. would also believe you can grow a bumper w/o rain , its just that fk-n simple
common sense is not that common anymore
