55% against, 45% for amalgamation of CSGA [into Seeds Canada ...

Common sense and farmer influence means the average Seed grower agrees this is not a good idea; agrees with you SASKFARMER... and everyone else who spoke against this 'Seeds Canada' railroad job we were/are being forced into by the 'Traders'.

They want to force ANOTHER vote, again in Dec 2020... insanity.

It’s time this greedy industry takes a hike. The vote was no. It is very obvious that farmers don’t want this change. Why have another vote things won’t change. The dreamers who spend all this time figuring out how to keep steeling from the producers is over. It’s time they accept the vote and carry on as it was.
These thieves wonder why nobody wants change well let’s look back. Since the chemical companies got involved in the canola seed business our so called cash crop has now turned into a rotational crop. No cash left in it for the producers. I only plant it because of rotation. Charging 700.00-1000.00 for a bag of canola seed sealed the fate of many changes. Until the crooks stop stealing from us I don’t think many producers will trust the industry.
Look at Syngenta pulling out of western Canada plant breeding. If they didn’t put all the stupid rules in that you can’t keep your own seed they may have had a chance.
Why can’t they figure out that we have to get paid before they get paid. Way to many useless jobs leeching on the back of farmers.

What are farmers doing about the possibility of ownership of genetics and RR canola coming off patent? Oh right, those bastards keep charging more for seed, that's what we are doing. Boo hoo.

That is what the canola check off dollar could be doing is providing a good solid workhorse variety for a significantly lower price. Surely at $12+ per pound there has to be room for some competition. Why can't the board members figure this out? Then I would not have to ask for the check off dollars back all the time.

Expand this to soybean seed. Guys have quit or are quitting growing them here. Maybe soybean seed can't be the same price everywhere as in the Red River Valley. One guy said seed costs have gotten out of hand for mediocre yeilds.

Who should make more dollars per acre? The guy taking the risk growing them or the greedy SeedCo?

I would really like to grow them but I don't like working for nothing.

There will be some quick reorganizing and placing of strategic people into strategic places by certain producer groups, political parties and seed companies to make sure next vote passes unanimously.

The PHD [piled higher and deeper] expression comes to mind here.

It is rather 'condescending' to tell 'us'- we farmers... that we need 'professional' people to run our farms... and that they need to 'train' us in the correct way to manage our farms by 'correctly' selecting our seed.

The ability to 'tax' and 'collect all our data' as seed grower/farmers[CSGA members]... through their 'Seeds Canada' monopoly... was a very alluring prize [for the trade] had we 'drank the 'cool aid'' they had served up for us!

High priced lawyers and 'con'sultants; seldom have common sense dirt farmers best interests at heart!
