no bucket , that is normal in the swamp !
got going in oats today in the south sahara desert , south of town , oats are 38 pounders , 2/3 of normal yield , small , slight and thin , and yes they were fungicided
getting first nice general rain since early june up there, 3 hours after started combining
hopefully not too much rain, if they lose anymore weight , they will be downgraded
we usually get 44-48 pound oats here , lucky we dessicated them , as they can't afford to lose anymore weight standing in rains
lots of swaths getting soaked today , can hear the cereals sprouting lol

Well just to poke the bear,
I wish we had irrigation, another inch or two and yields would have doubled. Yes this would be with traditional crops.

I think that would be the case in 9 out of 10 years. Soils are just too light, no clay, and burn the crop faster than a stubble fire on a average (windy day).

Yes I know, user pay system, farmers get painted with that big ugly brush all too often. How far can a individual pump water? Common planned canal system does make sense. Yes I’m all for drainage, that should be funded as well as many other infrastructure projects that can maintain future competitiveness.

Got started in oats today as well, just like CIH said, light ,thin 38lbs. Mine didn't get any fungicide. Only good thing is that they were 12.5, until about 4:30.

Got going on peas yesterday afternoon at 19 % moisture. Got down to 18 today and now raining. Yielding about half of last year from to much June rain. The pic is from a good part of the field. There are spots where the yield monitor says 0

Seldomseen. I think I may have been through your neck of the woods afew times in the past on our way to Jan Lake. I thought it would be kinda neat to grain farm where evergreens grow. Yes or no?
