Oil is needed to produce everything so it’s cost is important it’s the main determinant whether we are competive to produce anything here compared to anywhere e else. We’ve been caught in this dilemma of producing this high cost oil here which means not much else develops here which means we’ve become overdependant that this oil will sell for a high price world wide. Look where we are now it’s not just trudue destroying us we re destroying ourselves following the oil industry and the bought off politicians controlling all of us. It’s time for new ideas.

Trump has a problem brewing, very similar to Canada, the left coast, Cali, Oregon, Washington are threatening to separate, so he needs a Pacific port. We signed an agreement with the US dating back to WW2 on access to Alaska. Not sure if it's specific to Alaska highway corridor or not.

There are cost overruns in most of the hydro projects too that govts fronted the money for and we pay for. Same with nuclear. Most definitely with solar and wind.

The US has a robust oil industry and they have no problem creating other industries.

Whatever scapegoat you are looking for doesnt exist.

Oil may be used in everything but everyone eats too so lets knock down the grain price a few bucks, more people would have extra disposable income and spend it into the economy and maybe some new industries would pop up.

So the models were correct? The reason we locked down was it would be the end of days if something drastic wasn't done. We haven't heard much from the developer of these models since he ran off with someone else's wife during the lockdown. "Oh we've done such a great job social distancing and preventing the spread" comments like this are all based on the model being correct. He also reversed his position after testing positive himself and said deaths in UK would be "closer to 20k then 500k originally predicted". It might be time to revisit these dire predictions to check for flaws.

What are we looking for an increase in oil price or higher consumption at same or lower price? Is pipeline or Rail line going to increase price as in there is a shortage somewhere that needs filling? More production hasn't worked in the grain industry even when we have free access to US markets and no export issues.

Yes the heavy differential will close $10 if that crude can access other markets outside the US midwest. Ir can be blended in the Irving refineries and offset Saudi imports. And it can be a swing market option between California and Asia.

Thats exactly what TMX is going to do. This project would just be a supplement and would get around tanker bans. Oil would be just one component.

What should have been done?
WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN DONE !!!

1)Trudeau could have closed the border to all entries on Jan 1st(yes including Roxham Rd.)
2)He should have announced on Jan 1st, that there will be no entries of non Canadians for the next 12 months, no exceptions.
3)He should have also announced that day, there will be no entries back into Canada, for Canadian citizens, unless they are willing to accept a supervised 14 day quarantine on a Canadian military base or other government/military supervised facility. Canadians would have to apply for reentry. Yes there would be a waiting list.
4)Also on Jan 1st he should have announced compulsory testing for those who reentered Canada within the pervious 14 days, and trace tested any positive cases.

Slowly Canadians that wanted to return to Canada would be able to.
The Canadian economy could have continued as normal, with few losing the jobs, their life, or their minds.
Canada could have paid for those Canadians expenses out of the country(even their lost wages), would have been a small fraction of what has taken place the way Trudeau has done it.

I don't ask much from the federal government, but what I do ask, is that they protect our borders and our country.

Reminder that the Wuhan Flu does not develop spontaneously, every single case of Covd-19 in this country was let in, or spread to others from someone who was let into Canada.
