I can finally make a harvest report from the coldest wettest location on the prairies. Started harvest 2 days ago on CPS wheat. Tried some samples in the low 20% moisture and straw green enough to make silage a few days ago, but changing fast found some in the teens now, and can't wring water out of the straw now.

Yield is very good, potential was for more, except heads are short due to all excess rain, later volunteers have much longer heads, especially in the barley.

Wheat at this point is more than 80% standing, for the first time in... ever. Barley still mostly standing except one quarter of Synergy, but it looks like the yield will justify picking it up off the ground. Not looking forward to the rest of the barley, huge areas of drownouts from being saturated for 2 months straight.

Drowned out areas, and wheel tracks from spring harvest and seeding, which grew almost nothing in June and July, came back in mid summer, I assumed that was useless, but even those areas are now turning, still no killing frost, so might just get something out of that. In hindsight, could have reseeded the drownouts in July and got a crop. The odds were not in favour of that happening, ever...

Canola, ranges from almost nothing in the low spots, to wow inbetween. Green tinge slowly going away in the heaviest areas. Lowest areas now in full flower now that the punishing rains have been gone long enough. Will make for a patchwork to harvest around. Expecting well below average if the low areas are included.
Even the late seeded, then badly hailed, then the remains attacked by flea beetles, looks like it will make it.

Pastures not growing much now, but still lush green grass to last a while. Alfafla not frozen, so can't pasture hay fields yet. Lots of second cut in the area, with good yields, and good weather for it.
Edit, I was going to post a picture of cows in tall green grass taken 2 days ago, but out of respect for Farmaholic's blood pressure, I will refrain.

Going to depend what he means by colour.

Bleached isn’t a grading factor. They won’t (or shouldn’t) downgrade for that.

Piebald is as that reflects low HVK. Seeing it here because the rain drove the protein down.

If you look at your beautiful wheat and it’s full of piebald, be prepared for low protein. Now that doesn’t mean all low pro is piebald, but if it’s piebald it’s protein isn’t going to be great.

On the plus side, low HVK can only downgrade you from a 1 to a 2. There is no minimum after that.

Keeps raining here. Just enough to make it a no go. Yesterday non hailed barley was 16, then it rained. Overnight more rain. Forecast:Sunny. Reality: fog just starting to lift at noon, six degrees. Hazy heavy low October clouds.

Lots done, lots left in this area. Shoulda swathed my hailed barley when the forecast was for rain, and it didn’t. Lotsa plump green. Not sure what to do at this point? Wait for a hard frost?

Game cams up. Lots of elk, seeing lots in person too. They stayed in the right wmz this year. Moose everywhere. Getting all excited to get after em!

Lambs a growing, turkeys growing, chickens close, pigs doing good.

Most guys wrapping up here now . Far better harvest than past two.... thankfully
Yields all over the map for many different reasons . Some guys outside the hail areas had one of their best crops ever . Some in the north are fighting quality issues and flood damaged crops , some canola over 20% green .
For us a mixed bag depending on hail damage . Seen the Yield potential In a few fields not hailed on . We were close to a big one here. Next year lol .
Lots of field work started .
