Friday Crop Report on a Thursday!

The harvest moves on in our area. We will hit 83% done tonight. South of the valley it's basically done. Rain this week will add up to 1/3 of an inch or higher. Soil building for 2021 is on its way because the gas tank was empty. Spit or showered yesterday every once and a while but the hurricane dried it fast.

The further north of town I harvest the better the Yields. Kind of fun now harvesting, but That one extra rain or two made a difference.

So here we go its an easy report.

HRS is almost all done and the later stuff they are now calling a two because the showers have taken some colour. With the northern crop better the HRS will turn out to be just a little below average for us. South will still be Below by about 20 to 30%. Yes, its no bumper.

Barley is all harvested except a few fields, early went malt. Yields are down across the board by about the same as wheat.

Oats harvest is done and one complaint was lighter oats. Yields down.

Flax is mostly done and yields are down.

Peas and lentil harvest was done a long time ago and yields were just about normal for our area on the early stuff.

Canola is the crop that isn't living up to its end of the expensive bargain. The seed is too costly and when you don't get rain you don't get the big bushels to cover the costs. Yea it made something but the bin buster it isn't. Again south the further I went the worse the yields as you move north the better. So yes Canola will be lower production in 2020. Funny the Crop advisors from Manitoba are saying the same. Just good old Sask cant figure it out.

Basically I called it an average at best Provincialy wide before harvest. Some small areas had very good results. But big hitter areas for Wheat and Canola were either very little rain or to much rain and flooded out the land.

2021 We need some more gas for the tank or Zero people will be talking about a bumper in 2021.

Have a great day I might be done before thanksgiving. Nah mother nature will not allow that.

Interesting ....is that what we are getting from the R&D spending from our checkoffs....

I know I shouldn't ask this but didn't the older varieties hold their color longer....

Its not much of a hit from a 1cwrs to a 2cwrs but the question remains.... is that new variety characteristics acceptable?

I sent samples away and we have enough so mixing will happen easily. The art of the deal will happen.

Yes, we can now get wheat to go to 100 but you lose protein first even with enough nutrients. Get 65 and its great.

Oh supporting Trudeau this week drying grain is a luxury in Canada you know.

      **** YOU OTTAWA.

Oh and BOBOO is the worst Ag minister Canada has ever had.

Colour wasn't supposed to be a grading factor anymore, at least that's what I thought they said a while back, but they will use any excuse possible to get that grain cheap. When they sell it and load it on ships the grading is over, its all #1.

            Crooks.

We wrapped up last night. 6 weeks from start to finish. Lots of showers in between but managed to finish in Sept. Canola average, peas wtf happened, and wheat was all-time high.

most done just a few neighbor's who had green canola at frost time.
Yields varied every mile with the rain showers.
Yields were good enough considering the rain amount.
                Some not so lucky..
A few neighbors will have a tuff winter.

Wake up NDP call a convention before this leader loses his seat like all the others.

Unions don’t win elections any more.

Actually he just promised to come after you and many on here with a wealth tax not on your net worth but on your "wealth". It doesn't take much to control 15 million in assets these days on the farm. Think about it thats 150,000 in extra taxes every year. Thank God he hasn't got a hope in hell of ever winning.
