Today me and my fat wonder cow won the day. I walked, she followed. The herd came in behind.

Considering we were bringing up the rear, we made a real break for it to lead the final half mile 😆
Sugar usually works better than a stick for moving ours too. Good job😎

I worked part time in a stockyards for 9 years out of high school, when I should have been in University or some sort of post secondary education, not some niave kid getting a "stock yard" education.... if you know what I mean.

But sure learned a bit about handling and sorting cattle. Flight zones. "Heads up" critters. Docile Hereford versus high strung Limosouin, even blacks. Pasture born calves versus chop pail calves. Count checking pens after sales....got good at seeing tassels...even the obscure ones. All interesting stuff when they weren't your cattle that you recognized. Learned to close a bull pen real quick after putting a new one in with the bunch. Sorting side of the sales arena was more fun than the penning side...but I worked both, starting on the penning side. Received and loaded out. Even worked the area of final sort and pushing them into the sales ring but I swore too much for that location....within earshot of buyers and public watching the sale, lol. Foreman taught me to knife castrate young bull calves. Branded, tagged and needled feeder finance cattle. Bobcat work cleaning alleys and pens, chucking square straw and hay bales.

Ya we had cattle at home but this was different. Sometimes wished I had got a job in a grain elevator instead. I really liked the crew I worked with, down to earth...salt of the earth guys.

      Que sera sera....

No easy answer to the parent thing. Because every personality is different some people change some don’t. All you can do is do your best. Try not to do things that you might regret tomorrow, a week, a year...later?
Not saying it’s your situation but there are things I wish I had listened to my parents about as it took many years later to realize myself they were right and some things I was right about. Or at least I live thinking I was right. Lol
Don’t dwell on it. See opportunities to make it better. Family is important If you can keep it together.

                  Biggest issue facing farmers??

                  Themselves.

This is not a good look along with photos of spraying too close to watercourses etc. Some farmers on here recklessly and regularly vacate their social licence.

One doesn't justify the other. This issue can't be minimized so easily. The consumer reading this constantly alters his/her choices based on perception. Your reply is not a good look either.
