I believe the D word appropriate for here would be Desirable, or Decent.
After raining every day all spring and much of the summer. Since late July we have only had about 3 inches of rain total. And it has taken this long to finally get back to somewhat normal. Dugouts still very full, water table still very high, standing water has mostly gone away. Low spots that were saturated for 2+ months after seeding, are growing now, in October.
Only area I have seen that suffered from lack of water is where gravel is too close to the surface. Had massive potential, but when the combines went over those spots, the yield monitor dropped by 50 to 100 bushels vs. the deeper soil areas. Crop looks the same from the combine, so heads just didn't fill without moisture.
Always better to go into spring dry than wet around here.
Fall of 2016 saw standing water everywhere, making spring of 2017 a nightmare. That didn't dry up until late July inspite of almost no rain.

Yeah radar is utterly stupid. Looks like it could be a fair bit. Be nice if it didn’t matter, but this is getting old. Is your dryer bored these days?

Fwiw, and idk shit. Look at futures chart. Beans and wheat are both breaking out. There's something big brewing imo. You can do a lot if stuff right now but forward pricing next year's crop is not the thing to do. Again. Imo. We can't assume average bushels next year and the market is telling us the same.

Dry here as well. Most low spots are also dry. We had enough moisture for this crop and drought did not affect us at all this year. Will need rain more often next summer if we hope to grow a decent crop.
That’s the way this area is. A stretch of super wet years and then it swings and a couple dry years. Never seems to be just right!

2020 has been a Challenge Royale in the drought zone. Like Grant said, “Never say Wo in a muck hole.”
                              Just bone-chilling wind today.

Bucket spend the money and get a full face cover respirator, sized proper for you. I've had one for 5yrs or so now and there is no going back to disposable masks. Keeps your eyes from getting full of dust too. It's amazing how much less tired you feel after shoveling grain. Can get different levels of filters for doing different things also. Straight dust cartridges are reasonable and last me a long time.
