Must be reasons why that isnt done. Never really thought about it but makes sense. Diesel over hydraulic drive is so common but there is a loss or efficiency with that set up, not to mention the downtime and repair costs of hydraulic leaks.

Size and weight of motors vs power, and motor controls has been an issue.

Looks like the Nissan Leaf is now considered a disposable vehicle. Battery not available, or costs more that the car is worth, 80km range, without using heater or defrost.

can't remember what museum they took it to , chetwynd ,hudson hope , somewhere out there ?
but it was a a large , large , heavy diesel electric seismic line/pipe line clearing machine, it was about 45 feet wide with 3 large steel wheels that covered the whole width .these wheels had about 16" steel lugs on . there was a boom across the entire width about 22-30 feet in the air . it knocked the trees down and they came out the wheel lugs in 16" pieces . anyways the point is , it was diesel electric . there was an electric motor in each wheel . it had stopped there and trail was black behind . i sat in it, years later they took it to a museum. was built in texas
